An Ancient University Town with Fascinating Culture
In the south-west corner of Castile and Leon, the Spanish city of Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old City is one of the most beautiful Renaissance cities in Europe.
Situated next to the border with Portugal, Salamanca has unique architecture including Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Old Cathedral dates from the 12th-13th centuries and joined together with the 16th-century New Cathedral.
One of the most charming squares in Spain, Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. Enjoy a walk around the exterior terraces, savour an ice cream or relax in one of the picturesque restaurants.
Founded by King Alfonso IX in 1218, the University of Salamanca has more than 3,500 international students and teachers. Known for its Spanish courses for non-native speakers, the university houses a huge library with more than 150,000 invaluable volumes.
Booking.com offers a great variety of hotels, guest houses, hostels and apartments to choose from. Salamanca Airport is 15 km away from the city and is easily accessible by public transport.

I compare Salamanca to Oxford steeped in history very afluent beatiful. The culture is centered around the student population with dozens of bars and restaurants. ( not rowdy). Architecture is magnificent so much to see 1 day is not enough.
It is more expensive than anywhere else I have visited in Spain.

Salamanca is a beautiful city with lots of fabulous buildings all within easy walking distance. It also has good restaurants (definitely try Taberna de Libreros) It can be busy when the day trippers arrive but is quieter in the evenings.

Great architecture and friendly atmosphere.
Great architecture and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of bars and restaurants.
It would have been very helpful if menus could have been in English for us as many times we didn’t buy because we didn’t know what we were ordering and the translate app wasn’t good enough at times. Made food ordering laborious and way to difficult at times.

Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit.
Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit. We stayed 3 night and were able to see everything we wanted without rushing.
It is a walkable city. We came by train and left by bus. We used the local bus only once, and that was to get to our apartment.
We were there during Easter weekend, so reservations are important. Great restaurants and food.
The studio was perfect. Lots of space and great facilities. It was one of the best hotel rooms during our month long trip to Spain and Portugal covering 8 hotels. Rosa on reception was the perfect host both before and during our visit. She explained everything including car parking details. The hotel was a few minutes from plaza major and the cathedral. Lots of good eating places surround the hotel. Breakfast was excellent too. Great place to stay.
Everything! We had a fantastic room again, as it was our 2nd visit to the Alameda Palace, it included a separate area for 3 piece suite. The decor including the en-suite was top notch in classic rather contemporary style. Great view of the park across the road, and a pleasant roof terrace with small pool.
The hotel is a very pleasant 10/15 minute stroll to the Plaza Mayor which must be the most beautiful in the whole of Spain
The location is perfect, just one minute to the congress center and in the middle of the old city. In the nearby there are many restaurants, coffee shops and nice shops. Nevertheless the street is very quiet.
The breakfast was good, including fresh fruits and natural orange juice.
I will stay in this hotel again whenever I come back to Salamanca.
Everything this is a great hotel with superb service and facilities. Both rooms were adjacent with an interior private corridor. Free cava bottle with snacks provided at check in and a bottles of water and candies at check out. Free water, candies, tea, nespresso pods, etc…. Really closed to everything there’s to see in Salamanca within walking distance
Salamanca is a spectacular city worth spending time in, even during freezing February, as we did. The Puerta de la Catedral is wonderfully situated in the old town, facing the cathedral. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and efficient and the hotel has underground parking as well. It was good value for money. We would stay there again.
I've stayed here several times now and I love it. I think it's my favourite hotel. The staff are very solicitous of your well-being and they can tell you all of the best places to visit/eat in Salamanca. My room was very comfortable. You are very close to several of Salamanca's most glorious cultural attractions.
My place of choice when driving through Spain ! The historical center of Salamanca is just a few minutes away by foot, the area is perfect if you have car, the hotel is simple, they accept dogs and the restaurant/breakfast is really good with super nice service !
We stayed one night on route from the south of Spain. The hotel was easy to find with secure parking for our motorbike. The staff were very friendly and the room comfortable. There was an excellent 21 euro fixed menu evening meal at the restaurant.
The location was an absolute plus on this stay. Right in the center of Salamanca and with parking available nearby (in case you did not have a spot in the hotel parking). Staff in general was very helpful and welcoming.
Central, lots of free street parking at weekend (if you are reasonably early). Comfortable bed, everything works, has a fridge (unusual in Spain). Clean. Heat and a/c good. Wifi good but annoying sign in. Nice staff.
See above, the man on reception kindly pointed us in the direction of the bus stop and it was an easy ride into town.
We frequently travel to the north of Spain and the hotel is our little treat. Well worth a stay.
The location was right in the middle of Salamanca. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Helpful staff. Parking was arranged at a parking garage in another part of the center. The hotel offers a discount.
The restaurant is Amazing. The food and wine are not to be missed. The location of the hotel is perfect for a visit to Salamanca. The staff were great. An excellent hotel experience.
Very well located in the downtown of Salamanca. (A little bit noisy street at night). There are a lot of good restaurants near hotel. Iconic buildings are a few blocks round the hotel.
Check-in was very friendly, and secure parking was a big bonus. The location is superb for exploring Salamanca. The entire experience exceeded my expectations for a 'chain' hotel.
