We upgraded our room so we had the most beautiful view of the river and forest. The lodge is situated in an incredibly picturesque place. The food was lovely, the service excellent and the room comfy. We had a great time.

excellent service, we were a group of cyclists touring, and every request was handled efficiently, and they even put on a full english breakfast for us as we wanted to leave early next morning out of thier normal breakfast hours

Had a single room which had everything you'd need. As it's a 17th century inn, part of the walls had the original paintings and was on display behind glass doors which definitely added character to the stay which I enjoyed. Very clean and comfortable. Food was great in the pub next door, lovely staff.

To me, Symonds Yat and the entire Forest of Dean is still such an under-rated and under-valued area. It is such a beautiful place of natural beauty; if you love birds, trees, being out in nature - this place has it all. You can easily get off the beaten path and avoid the more well-known spots (the sculpture trail gets busy at weekends). It's easy to just lose yourself here and just 'be'. For those who love kayaking & canoeing, there's a ton of outdoor places to get into the water. For camper van owners, this place is a wee slice of heaven and, if you get into the heart of the forest, the relatively low light pollution makes from some spectacular star-gazing on clear nights. A tranquil location in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Good food is available at the Saracen's head but make sure you book. The narrow lanes leading to the village can be a bit tricky so take your time. It's probably worth arriving fairly early as it becomes very busy during peak periods.

The staff are wonderful and provide great service. Our room was spacious and quiet and had views over the river, we would definitely book the same room again. We ate in the dining room on Saturday evening and our food was wonderful. They have responded to previous feedback and now have an unobtrusive music track playing to add a little to the atmosphere of their large dining room.
