Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.
The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.
Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.
Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

City really changed from the last time I was there. Impressive Bloomingdale elevated trail. Lots of great places to eat. Extensive train and bus facilities. Wicker Park and bucks town the best but stay somewhere besides the hostel. No adults in charge.

Including the children's play area on corner of Millennium Park; Art Institute, Aquarium; Children's Museum, Lincoln Zoo, excellent lakeside trail; and a great breakfast place for kids at Egg Harbor Cafe. Somewhat dissatisfied with the Chicago eating facilities tendency to make us order by QR, without any human contact it seemed. Nando's chicken near the Park was atrocious. And I love Nando's chicken - in London, Johannesburg, Mbabane, Dundee etc! Certainly will put Chicago on our family visits to our home in Des Moines!Scarfe - 10Scored 10

Great city. Lots of things to see. Home Alone House, Cloud Gate, Rat Hole, Art Institute, etc. Friendly people. How ya doing? Good pizza and plenty of restaurants. The driving is terrible. Way too many cars. Interesting interpretation of speed limits and very little time to move when the lights change or space becomes available. So much to see and do but we didn’t have enough time to see everything we would like to have seen. Felt very walkable and safe. The Chicago deep pan pizza and Giordano’s was bellissimo! One of my favourite cities in the US. The architecture is stunning and people very polite and friendly. I would recommend the architectural boat tour. There are many offers so choose carefully as not all boats allow you to fully appreciate the views. The Millennium park is a must.

HAVE A MAP WITH YOU! Assume the weather will be worse than you imagined Metra is really good mass transit. But make sure you know how to work the system before you board a bus. Unless you're looking to spend $20+ or eat garbage - don't have breakfast downtown. Don't miss the Frank Lloyd Wright home in Hyde Park! His Ukrainian cathedral is a must too! Chicago deepdish pizza? Anyways as far as the hotel, location is awesome..literally smack middle of downtown. There is a fire station on the corner so I’d definitely consider the noise if you’re a light sleeper. Other than that our room had a beautiful city view, was spacious and clean and the continental breakfast had good options. Would def stay again!

We totally can recommend the Hyatt Place Downtown. We had booked a room with view and got a room on the 17th floor. it was awesome.. Very clean rooms, very friendly personal. The location was perfect. We have explored everything by foot. There is a lot to see at the Loop and the Riverwalk and River Pier is not far away. Maybe around 35min but a lot to see all around the way.
