NH Collection Quito Royal, hotel in Quito

Located 3 km from the historic centre of Quito and near the World Trade Centre, this hotel features luxurious accommodation with a health club, free WiFi and free breakfast options starting a 2:30 for...

The NH Collection was well located in La Floresta, a safe neighbourhood you can walk around in. It’s over the road from the Swiss Hotel, where you can buy tickets for the HOHO tour bus, a 10-15 minute walk away. Our 12th floor room was large with a great view down to the centro storico. On reflection though, a room on a lower level would have been better, to help as we acclimatised to the elevation. The food was really good- much better than the Hilton Colon and on a par with the Marriott. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was keenly priced. Overall it was a good choice.

Hotel Casa Alquimia, hotel in Quito

Located in Quito and with Bolivar Theatre reachable within 800 metres, Hotel Casa Alquimia provides concierge services, allergy-free rooms, a garden, free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace.

This is an interesting, quirky and altogether delightful hotel. The senora and her staff were friendly and helpful, the room was large, quiet and comfortable and they served a delicious breakfast. On our first afternoon we asked for some laundry to be done. It was returned 4 hours later and we were charged a fraction of what we had paid in other hotels. They also arranged for our taxi to the airport (paid). The hotel is just around the corner from Calle de Ronda, which has interesting shops and some great restaurants at very good prices. NB we visited in June 2024 and had no issues with safety in that area. You just need to take the same precautions as a tourist that you would anywhere, and there are plenty of police on patrol in Quito.

The house interior decoration and architecture was amazing. We really enjoyed the breakfast, cooked at spot. All staff were very attentive and helpful, they help organising airport transfers. Also we were allowed some changes in the room type, so my mother could stay in the ground floor to avoid the stairs, thank you.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was. Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience. We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo. Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc. It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.

It's an old city, with lots of history and historical buildings. Many museums, often free. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the climate is excellent. Most of the people I met were friendly and willing to help a confused stranger. There are some beggars, and some unsavory areas, as with any sizable city. I highly recommend visiting Wikiri Sapoparque if you're an animal lover. It's a great and unique experience.

This is a family run hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Needed google translate at times as my Spanish is not that great and not all of the staff spoke English. But we had no problems at all. Breakfast was great and they were quite flexible with our timings. The art work and decor in the hotel was really wonderful and Ecuadorian. We left bags here while we traveled out of Quito and there was no problems with securing them again. Yes I would recommend this hotel. The Jacuzzi in our bathroom was an added bonus.

We stayed in the hotel in 3 different occasions during our trip to Ecuador. The hotel is very well decorated, and every detail is inspired by the indigenous culture of the Andes and the concept of Chakana. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They helped us organize different visits, booked taxis for us, introduced us to the local culture and made sure we were at all time comfortable and had all we needed. The restaurant offered very tasty and well presented food. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quito

This bed and breakfast is located in the historic old town of Quito, 5 minutes walk to the Grand Plaza, the Presidential Palace, etc. The room we had was on the top floor; it was spacious and private. There are two sitting areas with gorgeous views of the city. Breakfast includes eggs as well as fresh fruit, cheese, and a selection of cereals and yogurt. The staff was exceptional, especially Enrique. They helped us with getting taxis, directing us to sights and restaurants and were just all-around helpful and friendly.

Great view, excellent breakfast and dinner (not the cheapest dinner but great food - the potato soup was outstanding). Beautiful decorations - like a mini art gallery. The hotel is high on the hill so walking up from the old city, while not very far, was quite strenuous. But the view made it worthwhile. Highly recommend to use one of the free walking tours (we booked online through Free Walking Tour Ecuador and the guide was excellent) to see the historic city area.
