Tangier is lovely. So much history, culture and amazing food!!! Getting lost in the medina is a requisite for a visit here, but all you need is to ask for directions and the kind people here will be very helpful even if you don't speak the language! Our stay of 4 days at the beginning of our travels thru Morocco and 3 days at the end of out trip was perfect. Enough time to learn our way thru the medina and to see all the sights and eat so much tagine! Come to Tangier, it is beautiful!!!

I loved Tangiers.
I loved Tangiers. It helped that I booked the perfect hotel for me. The hallways, gathering areas, and reception had lots of old-world charm. The desk staff were very kind. The location also was perfect for me. I enjoyed visiting the municipal beach. Who knew beaches could include horses and camels? I ate at local restaurants, and the food was good, and the staff was attentive. Best of all, I enjoyed watching the people go by and the sunset at night. Just chillin'.
Tangier American Legation is 5 minutes from the hotel and is a wonderful museum about the Tangier/American relationship. The laundry and hammam are a block away. The Medina and the ferry to Tarafa are very close. I took a day trip to Chefchoua, the Blue City. I took the Red Bus, but it is also possible to take a taxi around the city for $20.

Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists.
Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists. The old section was busy and the vendors are willing to bargain. It still has an older airport but for the little town they were adequate. The hotel arranged for a larger taxi and the drivers were fluent in French but not so much English. It was a laid back time with no one begging. The city had plain clothed police in the tourist areas but it was kind of cute because they were in plain clothes but had a red arm band stating they were police.

We traveled during Ramadam (on a budget) so most cafes were closed during the day, except those in heavy tourist areas, but this meant less tourists, so all in all a positive experience. The water was turned off in the Medina on two of the four mornings we were there, so I would recommend staying outside the Medina but close to it. Small dars and riads have steep stairs and no elevators so not a great option for everyone, but they have the most charm and hospitality. The Kasbah area is very nice with beautiful views.
When it comes to visiting Tangier, the Maison de Tanger stands out as the epitome of excellence in accommodations. At Cultural Morocco Tours, we have consistently chosen this exquisite hotel for our discerning clientele, and without fail, it has exceeded all expectations. From its captivating ambiance to its impeccable service, Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly endorse Maison de Tanger as the ultimate choice for an unforgettable stay in Tangier
The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged for a personal guided car tour that was exceptional. We saw parts of Tangier that we would never have seen otherwise. The guide took us to his favorite restaurant for lunch which was utterly delicious and very reasonable. The hotel is right at the Medina which we explored at length. The tile work inside the hotel, particularly in the cafe area was astounding.
Very clean, nice room and bathroom. Lovely Riad.
Very friendly and helpful stuff. Got a welcome tea. Could shower after Check out, because my flight was late in the evening.
Grest breakfast.
Right in the heart of the medina. Nice terrace with seaview. Just 20 meters away to an awesome viewpoint.
For the price its really probably the best you csn get in Tangier. Awesome value.
It was stunning and everyone that worked there was incredibly kind and especially sweet with our two kids. The location is perfect. You walk right out into the thick of the Medina. We took the ferry from Tarifa and it was just a 10 minute walk from the port to the hotel. We were greeted with mint tea and a yummy cookie. It was the perfect welcome.
The hotel was exceptional - located in the heart of the old medina, it is truly an oasis. It looks like a beautiful palace, and is decorated like so! Also, the breakfast was exceptional - handmade moroccan breads and sweets with local jams, honey and cheeses accompanied by simply the best moroccan tea. The owners were really nice and warm.
This hotel is super well located. Among all the Riads (actual Riads in medinas, not condos in modern parts), we tried in Morocco, this one is located closest to parking space (like, less than 100 meters away), and the Kasbah attractions are all close by. The room itself is spacey and comfortable, and the rooftop offers great views.
The hotel is clean and modern, with a great view of the sea. It is on the northern edge of the medina, and so is close to the main tourist attractions, as well as a 25 min walk from the city beach. There is a nice balcony to relax and have a beer / coffee on and watch the sea. The staff are helpful (though not available 24 hours).
An exceptional experience unfolds as the door opens, revealing the mesmerizing beauty of Tangier’s historic Medina. Every amenity is within easy reach, evoking a sense of stepping back in time. The courteous and attentive staff, particularly Soukaina and Meriam, stand out for their exceptional service and hospitality
The view from the room was good and the location was great. A very classic Moroccan hotel with a long history. An easy walk to the Medina and the Tangier Ville Port. The front desk staff was very friendly and able to answer all of our questions in English. It was a fine stay for just one night.
The room was big enough for the 4 of us(2 Adults and 2 Kids). The location was fabulous and very close to Medina yet away from the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel!
Having a spa at the hotel was a plus as well for a quick short massage!
The Hotel was incredibly clean and all of the facilities were quite new and up to date despite being in the heart of the Old Medina. The restaurant on the terrace level was quite good and well priced. Breakfast was great. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, too.
We traveled around Morocco for two weeks and La Maison was the best place we stayed! Very friendly staff, clean, excellent breakfast, beautiful pool area, excellent location, and chic well appointed rooms. The Hammam massage combo offered at the hotel was also incredible!
Great location with easy access to the Medina. The staff was warm and welcoming. It is in the heart of things, and right next to the mosque, so not the quietest stay. But that is to be expected! Terrific introduction to Morocco.
Morocco was one of my best trip ever and my night at Fredj Hotel was just amazing. I woke up pretty early just to see the sunrise.
My room has view from the sea and I can't describe how good it was.
I went back delighted.
Grand old hotel with lots of history. You can ask to see Matisse’s room (if unoccupied) which has been preserved largely as it was. Good terrace overlooking old Tangier. Short walk to the medina.
As a Cultural Morocco Tours operator, and according to our experience and our dealings with most hotels, we admit that this is one of the best stay that you can find when visiting Tangier, .
My first time in this hotel and I will definitely come back ! Very clean, staff very nice, breakfast good as well. Beach and medina by walk within few minutes, it’s definitely a good adress !
Actually the hotel was amazing because its near to the old medina and the beach the location its so good and the staff very friendly they help us a lot and the rooms clean
