Great, pub in an amazing spot on he side of Esk valley. Welcoming and helpful staff. We were cyclists and docked a point for no lock up,but we coukd lock the bikes outside at the rear of the pub. Beer and evening meal excellent and its obviously a popular place- pretty busy even on a random Thursday.
Situated just a 10-minute walk from Whitby Beach, Bagdale Hall & Annexe is a Georgian townhouse featuring limited onsite parking, free Wi-Fi and rooms with high ceilings.

Breakfast was fantastic (Toast would be better if a good quality loaf used rather than standard sliced but otherwise as good as we've had anywhere). We didn't take an evening meal as we had plans already in place.
Staff we're all very friendly and attentive and the room was clean and in good condition.
The Horngarth offers accommodation in Whitby. Whitby Abbey is 600 metres from The Horngarth,

The quality of the accommodation at the Horngarth is exceptional. Emma and Antony have really given a lot of thought to the extra touches that make a guest's stay memorable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation.
This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.

Fantastic place to stay, staff exceptional, great room
Everything was perfect. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and clean. It was very well equipped with everything that you would need. We both slept very well and we’re looking forward to staying here again.

The size of the property was fantastic.
The size of the property was fantastic.
It was well located only 5 mins away from a bus stop and less than 10 to the train station.
It was a shame there wasn’t a pub to walk to rather than having to drive. It was only a 5 minute drive but meant you couldn’t have a few drinks.
More cupboard space for food would have been good and the cleaners could have checked that there were enough coat hangers or the host could suggest that you bring your own as people may take them home.
The thing that let down our stay was the unclean state the property was in on arrival.
When I am paying over £500 for a weekend I expect it to be spotless and not have to start cleaning before we unpack.
My son has a dust mite allergy so this really didn’t help !
I was extremely disappointed .

Sleights is well located for access to the local tourist attractions. The train into Whitby would have been ideal for us, however they were on strike on the Saturday we were there. We used the bus service which was good value at £2 per journey, but the timetables displayed online and in the bus stops did not show the correct times. There is a park and ride facility outside of Whitby, and that would have been a good alternative option.
The restaurant we had booked in Whitby unfortunately had to cancel all bookings due to a flood on the premises, so we used the fish and chip shop in Sleights (Eskdale Fisheries) for our evening meal. The fish was delicious but we have had better chips.
