This elegant boutique hotel is located in the heart of Oxford, surrounded by the historic college buildings. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

An older but beautifully kept hotel with loads of charm. Very clean. GREAT location. Lots of plugs and usb ports available. Staff was amazing from checkin to cleaning to checkout. Very willing to hold our luggage for us - both on arrival and the day we left. Supplies in room refreshed every day - including water, tea, cookies and towels. Our room faced the street with a lively student union across from us. It was not a problem. We still left our windows open but ran some white noise on our phones and slept like babies.

FAQs about hotels in Oxford

City of Dreaming Spires

Featuring a magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. The home to England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two that you can visit are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.

Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.

The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.

Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly colored High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centers.

Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodations on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).

Absolutely lovely city, but quite expensive, and it has become very touristy since I last visited some 15 years ago lol. The Ashmolean museum is a must (HUGE so wear some comfy shoes), and if you don't want to spend too much just go walking around because the beautiful colleges and houses are all around you. I visited the Bodleian library, which is very beautiful but you don't get to see that many rooms, and Christ Church (same really). I went on a tour to the Costwolds (nice), just wished I had time to go to Woodstock and visit Blenheim Palace which looks terrific! Do be careful when getting your bus tickets though - there is an app but some tickets aren't valid anytime anywhere, and only for like 15 minutes...

Oxford is a very nice, clean place with a very pleasant ambience, and historic significance. Commuting with public transport is a pleasure, though we missed an equivalent of the 49 Euro ticket in Germany. The city presents buildings of tasteful architecture, free museums of high educational value and enough options for leisure as well.

Christchurch college is a must-visit place. The walk along the banks of the Thames from Kennington to Oxford is quite lovely. The city is very walkable, with much of historical interest. The contrast of the very old buildings and the vitality of the university vibe is great! Busses are everywhere in that old town - very user-friendly public transit.

Oxford is a fabulous destination. It has stunning architecture (even if you don't like architecture!) A vibrant social life. Speed limits in many areas make it a safe place to wander. The Ashmolean museum is a must in Oxford and you need to allow at least a half day to see it. The historic buildings at every turn are delightful and visiting some of the colleges is very worthwhile. Our favourite that we went to was Balliol. We were disappointed with Magdalen college which had large grounds but not much access to the buildings. We were staying out on the Banbury road and ate one night at Mamma Mia pizzeria which was excellent and they accommodated our vegan and garlic allergy very well. You need to book as it gets very busy, even on week days. We bought day passes for the 3 main bus companies which were very good value.

A really lovely and pleasant small hotel in a very beautiful and quiet part of Oxford. Kind, helpful and smiley personnel. The room is not huge, however, big plus that it was friendly to people with motor disabilities, and the bathroom was not only large but had all the necessary modifications for people with motor disorders. Bus stop some metres from the accommodation which conveniently take you in the city centre. Variety in breakfast. Highly recommended!

The hotel is very beautiful and peaceful. It is a short distance from Oxford city centre but feels a million miles away in the countryside. There is a charming river at the back of the property at the end of a scenic lawn. The room was bigger than I expected and spotless throughout. This is a classic Oxford hotel and has quite a well established reputation (which I only learned about later). Excellent breakfast although I would have loved to see the black pudding more often! The hotel exudes the atmosphere of a past era and if you are into that, it is lovely. Absolutely stunning building! The Morse bar is actually really nice with very pleasant staff.

The room is surprisingly big. It is comfortable. The bathroom is small, but clean. The best side of the hotel is its location - in the quiet streets of Jericho and 10 minutes walk from Broad street, but also from Port Meadow. For the steep Oxford prices, it is a good deal.
