Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

a wonderful town for wine & food lovers. you can drink excellent wines for far less than they cost in the States. we also found excellent restaurants. the ambiance is really nice here. in particular there is an enoteca with over 100 wines by the glass or taste and will ship the wines to you that you would like to buy. we easily found 3 cases to send home with free shipping!

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!

It looks exactly like the pictures, if not better! My boyfriend and I spent two nights here in August and have zero complaints. It is a small boutique hotel so there was one afternoon where we had the entire pool to ourselves despite it being busy season. We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and the pastas were the best we had during our entire trip. The staff are all so nice and very accommodating. I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic few days out in the beautiful countryside.

The place is wonderful. All the people Are very polite and helpful. We had the feeling that they are doing their best to make our stay special. At the beginning I was a little bot afraid due to some negative reviews. I was so wrong! The hotel is great, with clean and nice pool, the breakfast was fresh and tasty. Our room was big and clean with the view which we will never forget. Great location, near to the restaurants. We have spent great time with our 2 dogs. I highly recommend this place. Thank you!

Drogheria e Locanda Franci is located right across from the castle in Montalcino. It is associated with the wine store and restaurant right next door. This makes everything convenient for your stay. Be aware that the location is across from the main attraction there so there is noise there during the day but dies down very quickly after the early evening. Our room was spacious and clean. I would recommend your consider this hotel for your stay.

Great house located on the Main Street with a beautiful view. Rooms are great and very comfortable. Simone is great and informative about Montalcino, he took me to my car to pick up my bag in the pouring rain as the street the house is located on you cannot drive down without a permit. He then had me follow him in my car to the free parking lot before bringing me back to the accomodation. Lovely and hospitable guy!

WE stayed in the apartment which is a few blocks from the actual hotel. It is great and very convenient to everything in the city except parking. Also you cannot drive to the front of the apartment to unload your luggage so you need to roll it for several blocks. The breakfast is at the cafe next to the hotel and it is very good. From the apartment you need to walk up several hills to get to the cafe.

This is a lovely cozy B & B located 20 m from Cattedrale del Santissimo Salvatore, right in Montalcino centro storico. The room we got was clean and comfortable, bathroom the same. The host is very friendly and warm and will prepare for you a frugal breakfast just as tasty and good as in many hotels in Tuscany. You'll also receive from them a voucher allowing you to park for free on Viale Strozzi.

Stunning view from the rooms. Watched sunrise from the bed and it was stunning. Great location outside the ZTL but a stones throw from everything. Great hotel bar with view over the valley. Reception were really helpful in guiding us to the nearest car park once we’d unloaded our luggage and gave us a permit to stay there for the duration of their stay. Breakfast thAt was included was fantastic.
