The view from the room, restaurant, and pool was amazing. At the right time, the whale's tail could be seen from the restaurant! The room furnishings were basic, but the bed was comfortable, AC was cold, and the shower had nice hot water. They upgraded us from the lower building to the upper building so that was great which made it closer to the restaurant and had a higher/better view. The staff were friendly and helpful.
There was a spectacular rainbow in the morning!

The hotel was as i had expected. The room was basic with an in room bathroom and comfortable beds. The pool was good for a cooling dip. Sitting around the pool before meals i was rewarded with an array of butterflies and birds. the stars of the show are Lucy and her daughter. They prepared restaurant quality breakfasts and dinners as well provided great conversation. it felt much like a home away from home. Big Bamboo is a very short walk to Uvita and its restaurants and supermarket. no i didn't get a massage or put cucumber slices on my eyes but i did meet some wonderful people. I would recommend Big Bamboo to anyone wishing to stay in clean / basic rooms at a very affordable price, be served wonderful meals and enjoy people who open their living space and their hearts to you.

The place has the feel of living rustically in the jungle near Uvita. There is a small river that runs through the property and the buildings are aesthetically pleasing, open, and made largely of natural materials. There is a pool area for kids to play and others to cool off during the day.
For the majority of our stay, the host David was friendly and it seemed trying to create a welcoming environment. My partner and I seemed to have a pleasant connection with him and his three daughters, and we both helped them all in small ways throughout our stay of 12 days. The other guests were generally friendly and pleasant and respectful.
