We stayed in Intra, a smaller district / town part of Verbania. The town was great; it had shops, supermarkets, cultural activities, a small beach, great nightlife atmosphere with restaurants and bars. It felt safe to walk around at night. We did not like the busy main traffic road crossing right through the town. That was definitely the spoiler for us. Beware of expensive restaurants serving poor quality food 'for the tourists'. Better buy food yourself and cook at your apartment if possible! Great quality Italian products at a third of the price. Great ferry trips departing often. Beware of the islands excursion, took forever to get to Isola Bella and definitely a bit of a tourist trap, a very beautiful one though!. Great hiking and biking excursions, just do a little research and there's loads of amazing places to see. Huge market on Saturday. Leather goods for all tastes. Be careful again, they will try and charge you heaven and earth for cheese, salamis, fruit etc. Otherwise, Fabulous!

Verbania is a good base for exploring the sights of Lake Maggiore. It has great facilities and is the starting point for boats and ferries on the lake. Verbania is attractive, with a pretty waterfront, a lovely old town and lots of shops and places to eat.

Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore.
Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore. There is a free market every Saturday, with good bargains and excellent fresh fruit and vegetables. The cathedral on San Vittore is a must see. And the Botanical Gardens: Villa Taranto is a great place to sit and enjoy the views of the Lake and Nature's Treasures.

Relaxing setting with lots of options. Visiting the beautiful islands on Lago Maggiore and Villa Taranto botanical gardens were highlights for us. The busy weekly market on Saturday brought out the tourists and visitors. Lots of options for restaurants in the town.KarenUnited States - 10Scored 10
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent.
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent. Corona safety meassures are observed in all places we visited. I've been a regular visitor to the area for 40 years and I can say things have not deteriorated there like in many other places, on the contrary if anything the overall impression of the place has improved and is more attractive today - definitely no tourist trap.wolfgangGermany

It's 10 minutes walk to the waterfront. The room was lovely and large for us and very clean and comfortable. Our private bathroom was very spacious too.. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.. The owners are a lively couple, really friendl and helpful. I would 100% recommend this b&b.

The apartment and the equipment within were clean and new. The hosts made the arrival and departure very easy and were asking on many occasions if everything was fine or if we needed anything. I stayed at Ostella Verbania in Oct/Nov, after the summer tourist season ended so it was really quiet, but the weather was still warm. Great place if you want to get away and work remotely for a few days. The views of Lake Maggiore and the palm trees from the hostel are stunning and the hostel is kept very clean by the housekeepers. Great breakfast.
