Fantastic location! The staff were AMAZING and super accommodating - they let us check in early which was lovely.
We were given some fantastic recommendations for different day trips from La Spezia, including Lerici and Port Venere which we absolutely loved!

The hotel is located on the hill, about 10 minutes drive from La Spezia and offers free on-site parking, which was - as I was traveling by car - an important factor.
I've been traveling for about 30 years, and I have never met hotel staff being so kind, helpful and efficient as in this hotel. One night there was a soccer game in La Spezia, which I was not aware of, and all the restaurants in the town and close by were booked, even food delivery was extremely slow (about 1,5-2 hours waiting time). When it seemed that I will be left with no dinner that evening, the lady at the reception went above and beyond to help me find a place to eat, and she even offered to share her own dinner with me!!!!! 😍

La Spezia is one of those typical cities of the Liguria Region where colourful houses cover hills and cliffs, providing panoramic views over the sea. Thousands of years of history and a heart open towards the sea have shaped the character of this town surrounded by the 'Cinque Terre'.
Located on the coast of the namesake gulf, its proximity to Genoa has greatly influenced its development and culture. Take a walk uphill from the harbour, and admire the display of architectonic styles in the Old Town. Some of the best hotels in La Spezia are located here, while elegant guesthouses and villas with gulf views can be found in the highest areas.
Must-see sites in the city are the 13th-century Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St George’s Castle. The ‘Sea Festival’ is organized every summer, and its highlight is the rowing competition ‘Palio del Golfo’, a race between the 13 villages of the gulf. Departing from the port of La Spezia, boats can take you to the enchanted ‘Cinque Terre’.
The harbour is a 15-minute walk from La Spezia Central Station, and Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport is 105 km away. While planning your trip, check out Booking.com’s accommodation deals in La Spezia.

We spent four nights in La Spezia which was just right for us. We visited Portofino and Cinque Terre and as our hotel was very close to the railway station this was very convenient for travelling .We did contemplate going to Lucca but changed our mind and spent a day in La Spezia. It is a nice wee town with lots of local shops (no big bands only Zara) and lots of lovely restaurants. We had a nice walking through the town, the park and down to the ferry port and had a lovely lunch. We came back to La Spezia every night to eat as this was convenient and as I said had a good choice of restaurants at reasonable prices. There is also the regular ferry to and from Cinque Terre which is a great trip.

La Spezia is always presented as a working port , with no tourist value. We found it to be a good looking , relaxed city , plenty of eateries and cafes , pedestrian areas to walk and a great transport hub. While my friends did the Cinque Terre walk , I made a very easy 90 min journey by train to Lucca.
Infact , it was very nice to be in a town that was just going about its own business.

I have been to La Spezia before.
I have been to La Spezia before. It is very cosmopolitan and I particularly like the traffic free pedestrian area in the centre. Lots of lovely shops. Great for access to boat and rail trips to The Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere

We are a family of 3 with a small child of 4 years age. We planned our itinery based on the weather forecast. We visited Cinque Terre for 1.5 days, followed by Pisa + Lucca on a day and rounded our trip by visiting the top attractions in La Spezia for few hours. I liked visiting the technical naval museum, crossing The Thaon di Revel Bridge walking along ,Costantino Morin Promenade, strolling through Via Del Prione & Corso Cavour. My son loved playing at the play area in Public Gardens. We loved eating Farinata @ Murphy's in La Spezia.

La Spezia was a great place to be based to visit Cinque Terre. The town does have a lot of graffiti though, which we initially regarded as being off putting, however we did not feel unsafe when we were there.

La Spezia is a great place to stay if doing the Cinque Terre trail. It is a nice spot with lots of shops and restaurants. November seems to be a quiet time for the area, we imagine it would have been busier and more atmospheric during summer months.
Michi was a fantastic host. She offers a very clean space with a well equipped kitchen. No issues with parking. There are some cute bars and restaurants down the hill on the marina. I would suggest making reservations during these times. I love the balcony area. Perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or tea.
I would recommend driving or taking a bus to the train station to get to Cinque Terre and surrounding areas. I had better luck finding parking at the La Spezia Migliarina station than the chaos of dealing with Central.
The Poet hotel is in a great location. Close to the main strip, train and ferry for Cinque Terre. It is a bit different to other places we have stayed in Italy. Shops and restaurants open and close earlier. The room we stayed in was spacious and modern. We had a lovely terrace that we made good use of. The shower is the best one we've had this trip. Great shower head. The bed was very comfortable too.The breakfast was great. Lots of choice and great coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful
Perfect position, wonderful terrace with panoramic view over the La Spezia harbour and Mediterranean trees, modern interior with all amenities (including AC, fridge and Wi-Fi) and free parking (which in Italy is very important). The host, Vincenzo, does a wonderful job, he took so much time to explain everything, gave us restaurant recommendations and trip suggestions. In the fridge there was cold prosecco waiting for us to celebrate the first day of our holiday in Italy
The hotel was excellent - the standard of décor, helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was top class. They provided a really good breakfast with amazing views down over the port of La Spezia. The room facilities were excellent, really clean and of good quality. The standard of the outdoor facilities were also excellent with the pool and furniture to take advantage of the views.
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and were met by Daniela. She provided us with the keys and information on the area. She was lovely. The hotel is located on a small road a bit away from the main town. There was a lovely view of La Spezia from the balcony. There was a communal kitchen as well as a fridge in the room. The room was extremely clean and comfortable.
Great location very near train station. The hosts were amazing. Communication was fantastic the hosts were welcoming and gave us lots of tips.
On the hosts suggestion we had dinner at Nana which was only 3min walk away and the best restaurant I went to in Italy!
They also gave me a free bottle of wine on arrival!!! Thank you so much.
If you want to hike and enjoy the nature it is perfect, but if you want to see la spezia and visit restaurants for example, then it is not
Many friendly guests, it is easy to socialize
No problem to find a parking lot
The price is high on the first view, but Italy is a bit expensive in my experience, do the price here is not bad
It was my second time at Quiet Night and it is still the best accomodation in Italy I have ever been to. Luca was very flexible with the check in time. The place is right next to the main street of La Spezia, about 10 minute walking distance from the train station and the port. Everything is like on the pictures.
The best host in La Spezia. We had a bad experience at a hotel in La Spezia (don't book ever Lia Art) but our stay at the Appunti was absolutely perfect. The host is amazing and very very kind. 100% recommend. Perfectly clean. Easy access doesn't matter how late the arrival is
The room and the bathroom are super super clean. The location is very convenient if you wish to use the La Spezia centrale station to visit 5 terre, and also, next to the hotel, there are many good restaurants.
great location, super close to train station and everything you want to do in La Spezia. Check in was a breeze and they made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. would definitely recommend.
Lovely small hotel in the hills of La Spezia. Nicely decorated rooms with comfortable beds. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Big plus that the hotel is dog friendly.
Only three nice things can be said about this hotel, location is great, staff is incredibly nice and there is a few free parking spots right in front of the hotel.
Very convenient location, next door to the train station. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely will book this hotel if I go back to La Specia.
