Beautiful walks along the Loire, fantastic hosts, birdlife and troglodyte accommodation at Loire Sauvage, great little restaurants, pâtisseries, food store and souvenir shop, and the troglodyte housing around Rochecorbon is fascinating.

The Troglodyte homes themselves were so much fun to stay in, we loved how much history our hosts took the time to share and thier experience of living there. The gardens were lovely! And that view from the second story house! We even loved waking up one morning to experience being fogged in!

The house is big enough for a family of 4 and all the necessary facilities were there. Hygiene is excellent. In term of surroundings, there is a bakery and a small supermarket just around the corner. Moreover, you can walk alongside the river Loire into Tours (+/- 1 hour) and in the village (Rochecorbon) is a flea market on Sundays.

Breakfast was served on the terrasse and was very good. Our hosts were extremely friendly and took the time to have a long chat with us. The chambre d'hôtes is walking distance from the village and a fantastic restaurant La table de Joseph. Rochecorbon is a wonderful discovery for us and we would like to go back and stay again at the Troglodytes.

The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and very willing to solve problems when they come up. The pool area is small but nice and you can order drinks to be brought to you there.

Marc Bredif is also next door so provides the perfect opportunity for a tour and wine tasting before walking back to our room. We ate at the hotel one evening and the food was excellent, as was the continental breakfast in the morning.

It is ideally situated to initiate a tour of the Loire valley castles. The staff was charming and it really felt like we were owning the castle.
