Namib Outpost, hotel in Sesriem

With Sesriem Canyon reachable in 21 miles, Namib Outpost has accommodations, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a terrace and a bar.

There was nothing not to like starting from heart-warming reception, and throughout our stay during which we were the only couple in the property, who were kindly assisted by some 20 staff members. This was just our luck to visit the place on weekdays and during lower season, thus we had an absolute privacy. Only us and nature! The chalets, restaurant, viewing terraces, and the pools areas were spotlessly clean, well designed, and professionally served. Great experience!

We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance...

We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance gate. It was an easy drive to the park, and the 60km of wonderful tarred road to the 2 wheel drive car park. This gives access to Dig Daddy dune and Deadvlei. From here the park vehicle took us to Big Momma dune, and also goes to Hidden Vlei. All very easy. Dune 45 is 45 km along the road. The bus cost 180 Namibian dollars in October 2023. Wear runners to climb the dunes and walk to Deadvlei. Har, sunglasses and water are essential. We ate at the restaurant inside the park gate. Good and affordable. We bought our water at the shop there. Breakfast at the Sossusvlei Lodge was good too. I would recommend paying extra for tyre and glass insurance when picking up your rental car. Prior to coming to Sesriem, we had a flat tyre far from anywhere and Hertz directed us to a lodge with tyre repair services. We had to go on to Outjo to get the fixed tyre replaced, but the insurance made it less of a concern.

Best place to experience the oldest desert on earth.

Best place to experience the oldest desert on earth. Wonderful place to spend time with. At least you need to stay 1 night inside park to make sure that you can go to Deadvlei early in the moring. Take photos with shade of light. Hiking at Daddy dune in the morning and slide down to deadvlei.

Sesriem is an oasis in the desert and everything is well organized but basic. Prepare well before you go. The cleanliness of the entire area is remarkable. The Namibian people are very friendly and helpful - don't be shy to ask for advice.

I loved the dunes, but we should have got there a bit earlier in the day for the best photographic opportunities. We stayed at We Kebi Lodge which was exceptional value for money, and I would have loved to stay there for a longer stay.

The road in from Mariental (273Km) and out to Walvis Bay (...

The road in from Mariental (273Km) and out to Walvis Bay (315 Km) were sand/gravel, and in a poor shape for large portions. Other than that it was a great stay. 2 nights should be a minimum with at least one day to frolic in the dunes.

Accommodation in and around Sesriem and Sossusvlei is slightly on the expensive side for locals and South Africans. However, it is one of those things that you have to see and experience should you be able to travel the gravel roads of this vast country.

This was our first hotel of our tour and it was an instant hit. We really enjoyed the beautiful, spacious rooms. The terrace overlooking the desert was my favorite spot. Dinner was great. The good night stories were a nice attention. The sundowner was also very nice and in an amazingly beautiful decor. Too bad the lovely pool was too cold to use. By the way, nowhere in Namibia are the pools heated, although there is enough sun to do that with solar panels.

The meals at the hotel are really wonderful. There is variety which is unusual for Namibia -- we had a vegan in our team and he ate really well at this hotel. The view of the desert from the al fresco dining area and the bar is really special and I liked the layout of the tent rooms. Overall, this place gives you a real feeling of being in the desert. It was a bonus point that the place is not far from the dune park and Dead Vlei.

The hotel lies in the middle of the desert, soo peaceful with a 360 degrees view. We booked for a special occasion the wine cellar and had a romantic diner there, Gaskab, our waiter, did a wonderful job, making this occasion unforgettable. The pool in the middle of the structure is a real oasis. The room with balcony was amazing, it’s worth while paying a bit more for the rooms with balconies. You won’t be disappointed.

Everything was perfect. I have been greeted lovely drink. Rooms are super sweet, clean and with AC. The Sundowner drive was very nice. I haven’t seen that many animals in any other location that closeY The water whole is directly at the hotel, you could in theory touch the animals. To see them is pretty much guaranteed!! It was truly amazing and I wished we could have stayed longer.

It was the best hotel staff on our Namibia round trip !!!! Attentive, helpful, but also humorous. Our companion for the morning and dinner would probably be the employee of the year. Many thanks. The houses are very clean and the grounds well maintained. The way to the entrance of the national park is a bit distant, but for that the wild animals graze right outside the front door.

This was a groovy little hotel, really liked our cabin. It was quite large, the bed was comfy and the shower was huge. Really good location, right near the park gate. The staff was fantastic, helped us make all our reservations, even helped us with our itinerary for our days there (fixed our itinerary for us, should I say lol). There is also a pool and bar area to hang out at.

Great place to stay if you are visiting Sesriem. The rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable to accommodate a family with kids. The staff is excellent and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay (kudos specially to Paul on this). Food is also very good and quality and the kitchen staff make sure all your dietary requirements are considered.

+ Our room/cottage was very spacious + Area outside of our room was just for us, well equipped for BBQ. + We can imagine spending multiple days here + Nearby Sossusvlei Lodge offers great adventures (helicopter flight, trips...) + Sossusvlei Lodge also covers meals for guests. Everything is smoothly connected. We just had to state our room number
