Didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time in Salem.
Didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time in Salem. Difficult to drive during Christmastime with fog and very heavy traffic coming from Portland, but thankfully no snow!
Was visiting family so had no choice but would do it again in good weather, especially in summer. Think there's a lot to do in the area!

Salem has a lot to explore about.
Salem has a lot to explore about. We were there for day surgery. I was impressed with Salem General Hospital. It is a great facility and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Some sights around the city are the State Capitol Building, the fairgrounds and the downtown area.

There is something a bit of kilter about Salem, it is hard to put a finger on it. We didnt find the cute and funky neighborhoods like in Portland, but neither did we see the the copious amounts of 'houseless' people.
Lots of strip malls and chain restaurants- I am sure there is a cool neighborhood with great restaurants, clubs and shops, just didnt find it
Went to the one gay bar in town (I think) located near the airport in an industrial park. Strong drinks and strong urine smell too!
Sad to see shopping downtown is gone, went to get some retail therapy and ended up at the outlet mall north of town.

Salem has all the amenities of a large city but is broken into sections with unique atmosphers of their own, i.e. hi-end, cozy neighborhoods, commercial with a wide assortment of small shops on the main streets, sidewalk chairs and dining, parks, river, play areas, etc. At the end of the main street are the malls with all the usual and necessay stores we're used to. Streets are clean and well lit, although some sections have area of homeless. Clean cozy neighborhoods are spotted throughout Salem with fun garage & yard sales on weekends, along with the civic center hosting their Saturday Farmer's Market. Across I-5 is more residential neighborhoods and the usual commercial large chain restaurants, malls, carwash, electronic repairs, etc.

THE ROOMS WERE GOOD AND THE BEDS COMFORTABLE., APPARENTLY THERE WAS VERY LITTLE STAFF TO TAKE CARE OF OUR NEEDS FOR THE REUNION. EXTRA ROOM SET UP ETC. IF THEY HAD TOLD US THAT AHEAD OF TIME, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. WE COULD HAVE ADJUSTED. BUT THEY DIDNT AND WE WERE NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THE PROBLEMS.

I'll be sharing my review on the internet...we weren't the only family that this was done to that evening other families came in while we were there and were also caught off guard that there reservation was not in the system
The location in relation to what I needed was more than adequate. The room was quiet and comfortable for relaxing and light remote work. I booked through a third party so the price I paid was fair for what was offered. However, if I paid the full room price this review would likely be different as it lacked some amenities of comparable hotels in the same price range.
Plenty of car parking space. Close to major roads and main streets to get access in Salem or beyond. Great food in restaurant at reasonable prices. Great service at front desk and in restaurant. Room spacious, quiet and comfortable. Everywhere clean. Laundry facilities available for guests.
I felt like the hotel was trying to be something it's not. It's definitely not a 4 star hotel. It is maybe a 2 star tops
My room smelled like old cigarettes. Reminded me of a old cheap motel. It's like they were trying to put lipstick on a pig.
This is a brand new beautiful hotel in downtown Salem. I was impressed by all the friendly staff. Also valet parking was only $20/night! Walking distance to great restaurants and local shops. Will stay here again!
Hotel staff did make an attempt to replace the remote control when ours was not working. Unfortunately, this problem was not resolved. But we are given a $10 discount for the inconvenience.
Very good breakfast was much appreciated! The room was large with a comfortable bed and sofa. The staff as friendly. Parking was convenient. We would stay at the hotel again.
The property is very clean and comfortable. Owner is very helpful and responds quickly in a timely manner. I would love to come back anytime I am back in Salem.
