Carmel Mission Inn, hotel in Carmel

In close proximity to Point Lobos State Park, and short distance to Big Sur, this hotel offers relaxing activities and exploration of the California coastline.

The location was excellent for downtown Carmel by the Sea as well as for traveling Highway 1 scenic route. Having a few stores nearby, made it convenient for picking up items. The outdoor patio area was nicely, arranged, and offered both comfortable lounge seating as well as activities.

The hotel gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. Also, when we booked our stay, the immediately called me to let me know that they accidentally overbooked their rooms but because it was our anniversary, they upgraded our room to a suite. The hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Carmel By The Sea. The furniture and art decor is beautiful . It's situated In the midst of downtown Carmel where the art galleries and wine tastings are. It is only a few blocks from Clint Eastwood's Hog's Breath restaurant, which we highly recommend.

Stilwell Hotel, hotel in Carmel

Stilwell Hotel set amid upscale shopping and dining in the city center, is less than 0.6 mi from Carmel Beach. Free WiFi and a daily continental breakfast are included.

This property has recently been fully renovated (reopened early May 2024). Everything looks very new, clean, and modern. The bed was comfortable, ac/heat worked fine, shower was decent. The rooms had many thoughtful modern touches that I liked a lot. The location is perfect - just on the outskirts of the main downtown area. Everything was easily walkable, but it was easy driving away at the end of our stay, avoiding the constant foot traffic of the main downtown area.

Carmel is an incredibly charming town surrounded by gorgeous nature. Great boutiques, great restaurants, and great scenery. The downside is that it can get very very crowded and it is super expensive.

Carmel is such an enchanting village!!

Carmel is such an enchanting village!! The shops and art galleries are amazing! The trees and flowers that line all the streets are lush and mature- as the trajectory of the town slopes down gradually to the most beautiful white sand beach that spreads for miles along the Monterey Bay!! There are many dining options and coffee shops too. Truly a world class destination❤️

It is a beautiful, classy, step back in time village with a lovely beach at the foot of Main Street. Dozens of attractive, luscious cafes and restaurants within the several block main shopping area. Great designer shops, local and International. It is expensive for a middle class traveler, but not out of reach. Such wonderful ambiance and not snooty. Across from Tiffany's is the local Drug Store with hysterical greeting cards for $3.66. BARGAIN! Not for kids - too slow. Also, it is great to be a 10 minute drive from a much cheaper and more active Monterey, with many activities for children and adults. A double dose of California at its best.

Carmel is a great beach to visit.

Carmel is a great beach to visit. Very pretty surrounding area, white sandy beach. But water is cold! Carmel in general tends to be very rainy/cloudy. Its not necessarily "lay out and tan" kind of vibes. But more walk the beach, play fetch with your dog, find a good nook to read a book, surf if thats what you're into.

This is our third time coming to Carmel, and if I win the lotto, I will buy here. It is like nothing else you can experience on the West Coast. There are so many shops, wine tasting, hundreds of wonderful restaurants, and, did I say shopping? We coordinated this trip with a concert at the Sun Set Center. If you can attend a concert there, you will not be let down. It was amazing and within walking distance.

Very nice little hotel in the middle of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Very nicely decorated and furnished. The location is perfect - just about 10-15 mins’ drive from Monterey’s attractions. The 17-mile Drive is a short drive away as well. Less than 10 mins drive away heading south is the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve where you can do easy hikes overlooking the California coast. Parking at the hotel is very convenient as the lots are just outside the rooms. There are restaurants and markets within walking distance as well.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is riddled with small charming boutique style accommodations. All of them are unique, but the Tradewinds I find is the most modern and updated as far as design aesthetic goes within a reasonable nightly rate. The rooms are updated, the property is minimal with a buddha fountain and outdoor tables if you want to enjoy a glass of wine or your hotel breakfast, but a majority of your stay should be visiting the beaches and walking about the town.

Hotel opened two weeks before my stay so everything was new and modern. Free breakfast that was not traditional continental fare and complimentary champagne at check in. No resort fees or parking fees and they allow dogs for a minimal fee. Very clean property located in middle of carmel so you can walk everywhere downtown. Friendly staff. Wonderful shower, bathroom and toiletries too.

Excellent location, with the town of Carmel less than a 10-minute walk and the beach just a little over 20 minutes on foot. The outdoor communal area at the hotel was a nice touch and we enjoyed relaxing there in the evening after wandering around the town, with comfortable seating, and fires to keep us warm when the temperature dropped off.

We visit Carmel often. Quirky hotels abound and at this price point this exceeded our expectations. This is a well renovated hotel in a great location in the heart of Carmel by the Sea. the room was graceful, timeless, quiet and romantic with thick, lush bedding, a separate spa tub, fireplace(electris) and TV. We will return for sure.

Location of this hotel is great - close to downtown shops. Their underground parking is a huge PLUS for a Carmel hotel given that parking is such a challenge in this town. Carmel Inn is a great place! It has everything you need from a swimming pool, whirlpool, restaurant to gym! Centrally located, super close to shops and some restaurants!
