Typically Swiss, Interlaken has an incredible location: on the Aar River linking nearby Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and in the shade of magnificent Alpine mountains including famous Jungfrau. The wonderful views are seen flying into Interlaken Airport.
The lakes are great spots for sailing, swimming or simply having a picnic along the peaceful shores. The area also has its fair share of high-adrenaline pursuits including bungee jumping, paragliding and river rafting.
In winter it’s all about the Interlaken skiing and snowboarding, with options including the fabulous Jungfrau Winter Sport Region and family-friendly areas with easy slopes. The Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn glacier is UNESCO World Heritage-listed, and the Jungfraujoch mountain railway takes you to the Top of Europe, the highest railway station in Europe. For a break from skiing, Europe’s longest toboggan run is a thrill a minute. Après-ski ranges from bars and discos to cosy restaurants serving specialities like fondue and raclette.
The town offers great views of the snowy peak of Jungfrau, best seen from Höheweg which also has a Japanese garden and lots of shops selling all things Swiss. Interlaken is a good base for a break to see the Bernese Oberland as it has good rail links to the many other well known towns like Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Brienz etc. Train services are expensive, but very efficient. However, I would not choose to visit Interlaken if I were not staying there. It is pricey and can be busy, food options are very limited and it has a lot of car traffic.Perry - 10Scored 10

There are summer and winter sports, and picturesque towns and walking trails all over the region, with excellent train service to all. Bettina and Sven, are wonderful hosts This holiday apartment had everything available for day to day requirements like, bath soaps, dishwasher pods even offered two loads of laundry., Luggage storage. Interlaken was our base as we explored other villages. This is one of the best place I enjoyed and will remember. Spectacular views, lots of shopping and restaurants. Very efficient mode of transport. Had a great time in Harder Kulm, did not disappoint Best spot in watching para gliders. Will definitely be back

And the host, Marco - he is so helpful and full of details in terms of cleanliness, travel information, weather & what to do around Interlaken. Marco even gave a free pair of new gloves as the weather is freezing cold while we were cycling. While doing laundry, we even noticed how the host was preparing for next guest stay by full cleaning and ironing. Overall, it feels like we are staying home in Switzerland. THANK YOU :)

It's a 2 star hotel but with a 5 star balcony view (we were in room 30). The Location is excellent (less than 10min walk from Interlaken West), there's a good breakfast, the staff were all friendly and helpful, clean everywhere and the bathroom/shower was surprisingly modern. I was expecting pretty basic facilities but was impressed. Will 100% stay again whenever we return to Switzerland.
