Lovely city with some really beautiful parts. Clearly a seedy side (there was a major assault not 50m from our door on one night!), which is true of any city, but Inverness is small enough for it to feel cheek by jowl with the nicer parts. Great range of places to eat and things to do. Easily walkable to everywhere.

Inverness is a beautiful city.
Inverness is a beautiful city. Nice shopping streets and shops. Many nice restaurants with varied menu options. We recommend Aye Eats for the Scottish experience and food. Also, recommend House of Aran for shopping. Both are with in walking distance of our accommodation.

It’s a surprisingly small down that feels a bit empty in the day - mostly comes to life at night with all the live music in bars. For tourists, seems mostly a stopping point en route to Loch Ness rather than a destination of its own.

The location is spot on. Parking a 5 minute walk away. Paid £60 extra to make it a triple room which meant a camp bed was placed in the room…not impressed, couldn’t sleep in it, had to share double bed.

Easy to get to city whether travelling by road, rail, bus and air (air port slightly out of Inverness). We travelled by train and we had lunch in the Ash Restaurant next to the railway station as we had time to kill before we got into our apartment and food was excellent. We also visited the Palace hotel for afternoon tea which was also good.
Plenty of eateries, pubs and shops

Inverness is perfect for a holiday where you want to...
Inverness is perfect for a holiday where you want to prioritize gentleness, quiet, & rest but balanced with time outdoors & access to general amenities (restaurants, pubs, historic sites, etc). Ease of access to the rest of the highlands (and numerous day tour options for the Isle of Skye) are a definite plus for those wanting to go further afield.
Location was great, staff were super nice and welcoming, bed was very comfy and we slept great. Street outside was very noisy, Saturday night but soundproofing was super so you could only hear the loudest screamers faintly - good combo of being able to step out right into the action but also being able to escape the mayhem. Also the other patrons were nice, nobody loud and drunk at late hours (I think the first hotel we've stayed at in Scotland where this was the case). Nice bathroom, very clean. Would definitely stay again.
The sheer cleanliness and organised nature of the rooms. It’s few minutes on the road of entry to Inverness. Parking is available and the breakfast is good. But the best part of it all is that the hosts are the friendliest people we met in Scotland. We had a flight at 7am in the morning and getting a taxi at 4am would’ve been very difficult. So, when I expressed my concerns to them, they offered to drop us to the airport. And eventually he arrived at 4.30am and dropped us to the airport.
Ivanhoe was one of my favorite stays on my trip to Scotland. Directions and check-in were easy, Janette’s son was polite and helpful, room was cozy, clean, had its own bathroom, and nice personal touches. I got in late so missed a chance to get dinner on my way so the crisps and biscuits provided in my room were a godsend! The best part of all was the homemade breakfast and Janette’s smiling face which started my day off nicely. I would absolutely recommend and stay here again.
The location, service levels at Reception, room facilities (eg size, hygiene etc) were to a very high standard. We booked a king room and suite, both were brilliant. We stayed at 5 different places on our trip to Scotland and this was by far the best hotel /service by all. Especially when you compare it to some of the so called 5* golf & spa resorts and hotels we stayed at. Well done Ness Walk and the team. This in our opinion should be classified as a boutique hotel.
It was the best hostel I have been in my long travel through Scotland. Good relation quality/price, and in the center of Inverness, near the Castle. I was in a room for four, clean, comfortable, with space. Shared bathroom are very good, modern and clean. I did not used the other facilities. They have space where to leave lugage between checkout and gone... and the rest room is so nice! Definitely, a place to choose in Inverness.
What didn't we like? This is probably the best place I've stayed in Scotland. The property is a bit outside of the city but it is gorgeous! The staff were fantastic and incredibly kind. The food was amazing as well. We recommend to get the pork belly for dinner if it is offered!
One night, there was a leak that set off the fire alarm. One quick call and the staff were there to help. The problem was resolved within 30 minutes.
The whole apartment experience was absolutely fantastic. Jo was really helpful and assisted my wife in moving apartments as we extended our stay but the first one wasn't available for the second night! Nothing was any trouble. I think that I can say that after 40 years of travel around Scotland for business and pleasure, this was the most exceptional stay. We are planning to stay again either later this month or next!
The room was clean and cozy, especially the bathroom was pretty. Breakfast was really good as well. The location was perfect if you visit Scotland by car. It''s like a 10 min walk into the center of Inverness, which was perfect. Had really good drinks in a bar called Scotch & Rye. Def. would book again :) The B&B host recommended to go to Chanonry Point to see Dolphins and we really saw some there, it was amazing!
Beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. Easy, short walk to downtown. Great breakfast was included. Host family could not be nicer. They even picked me up when I got a bit turned around walking there from the train station! Inverness is a lovely city, very close to the Culloden Battlefield, the terrible aftermath of which is why so many Scots left Scotland for America, N. Ireland, etc. Well worth visiting!
Beinn Mhor Lodge was the best place we stayed during our road trip in Scotland. The host was absolutely lovely - felt welcomed and cared for as family. The rooms and property as a whole are immaculate, modern, clean, comfortable and beautiful to look at. Would highly recommend staying here - short distance to the city centre - gives a lovely break from the noise and hurry.
Everything was above our expectations. We were made to feel totally at home by Margaret who ran the accommodation. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There was an excellent choice of hot and cold food at breakfast. Good safe parking and convenient for Inverness and the surrounding area. The best accommodation we have had touring Scotland.
Highly recommended.
We stayed at the hotel whilst enjoying the East coast of Scotland. The hotel is in a great location just past Inverness and right on the front. Our room had a great view! The bed was very comfy and our evening meal there was fantastic. A really great value hotel for a short stay. There is parking at the hotel and on the roadside. Check-in and out was very easy.
Unbelievably fantastic host in Derek. He bent over backwards to help us with our car problem. He was so concerned that our holiday was not disturbed and that we would enjoy Scotland. He went out of his way to help us. I cannot say enough about what a first class host Derek was to us! First class all the way!
Excellent breakfast!
Nice location if you want to travel to other places from here. We went to Kyle of Lochalsh by train which was the reason we went to Inverness. Hotel is lovely, nice and helpful staff, cheap and nice food. We ended up staying an extra night because of unforeseen circumstances. 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station
We only stayed one night at Aye Stay as we were traveling towards Isle of Skye. The decor was wonderful and the breakfast was amazing. A big thank you to Roberta who gave us an ‘Aye Stay to the left bracelet’ when she found out we were driving in Scotland for the first time. 😁 Would stay here again.
Karen is a bona fide chef with a wide and deep knowledge of cuisines both Scottish and otherwise. We enjoyed the meal and good company and learning about the regional cuisines of Scotland. The dessert was something extra special.
The couple who runs this place was exceedingly friendly and made the stay way better than a simple hotel room ever could have. The whole house had a rustic charm that really fit with the overall experience of Scotland.
Everything, absolutely stunning place to stay.lovely massive garden ,very comfortable stay for me and my family.love Scotland, that's our 4 trip to Scotland.many places to visit near Inverness, beautiful nature.
The location in Inverness was great. Close to the town center, but away from the noise. The breakfast buffet was one of the best that we had in Scotland.
