The staff were very polite and approachable. The shower was definitely the highlight, super warm! Very accommodating with a large dog, definitely the easiest and most stress free accomodation with a dog.

Ashburton was a short stop over 1 night stay on our way to Dunedin and further south. I would recommend Kelly’s cafe on the Main Street. I probably wouldn’t return to Ashburton unless I was just passing through. The beach had the most amazing flat round smooth stones if you are into stone painting at all.

Perfect for the overnight stop to do a local meal and a show at the event centre.
But I would be more than happy to stay for a few days at this quiet, well-set-up large motel. With more programs to work from on the TV than most homes anytime.

You get what you pay for. Definitely the place we will stay each time we pass through, it’s not perfect but it’s better than other places. Nice staff. Nice room, I wish the cleanliness was a little better but aside from that a convenient place to stay.

I liked the fact that everything I needed was on either of the main streets (both the shops street and the by-pass road). People are pleasant and helpful, and Ashburton doesn't feel too big or touristy. A great place to stay if you want to use as a base to explore other activities in the area.

We stopped here to see the Aviation Heritage Museum. It was a great place to stop and rest prior to travelling into Christchurch. We found it a very friendly, slower paced area that allowed us to rest before the city exposure.

The ability to use a service road to get around the city centre - didn't have to use the busy State Highway 1.
A lot of places were shut for New Years but we found a decent Indian restaurant and really enjoyed that .
Great weather .
Downside was the attitude and behaviour of the staff at the motel . Left a negative on the trip .
Driving from Christchurch to Oamaru after coming off a long international flight is not a wise move. Breaking the journey and staying in a motel in Ashburton is a life saver. I booked a room at the Bella Vista at very short notice and was pleased with my choice. The room was comfortable and had a well appointed kitchenette. I had a great night's sleep and resumed my journey next morning.
I had a one bedroom unit which was excellent value for money. The unit was spacious and had everything I could possibly want/need..TV in the bedroom, power points next to the bed - handy for charging phone when alarm was needed...and a light directly above the dressing table. Great heat pump and good shower. I would recommend Regency Motel to anyone looking for accommodation in Ashburton.
The rooms seem recently remodeled- everything fresh, pretty bed linens and pillows, spotlessly clean. Location was great for travelers- we were just passing through as we headed south. Accommodations were made for our late arrival, milk in the fridge for our coffee and tea- so thoughtful.
For the price, we didn't have high expectations for our one night stopover, so were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation: a spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious, modern unit with a good-sized separate bedroom and a proper kitchen. Ideal for a family of four.
Thistle cottage was an excellent choice for a quiet stay in the country. The furnishings were beautiful and the outside areas were private and peaceful with grazing sheep.
Close to Ashburton but far enough off highway 1 as to be out in the country.
Wonderful service and beautifully clean and cozy room.
We were treated to a brand new bed for our stay also, which was so comfortable.
The shower pressure was great, and we were provided complimentary plunger coffee for our morning brew.
Amazing accommodation. Everything was of the highest quality and it was so well appointed. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a premium experience. Lovely quiet location, beautiful view of snowcapped mountains. Just stunning!
I was late arriving so they left the keys in my room and the bedside lamps on. It was such a nice gesture. And when I entered the room I did not expect it to be so nice! It was much more a hotel room than a holiday park!
Great Accommodation, very clean, tidy and modern. Staff were helpful and showed passion for ensuring I was given a run through the room and amenities. Highly recommend to anyone needing accommodation in Ashburton!
The room was quiet and suitable for rest with large twin beds. There was plenty space for luggage. The hotel's location was near the main road and easy to find. The receptionist was nice and helpful.
The room is big compared to a normal hotel room. With heater for the bed and bath room. This helps during winter time. Laundry & dryer machines site as well.
