Localisation, big rooms and quality price relation
We came on the bus from Braga. Actually, there was a one-day strike and we took a taxi. We took the bus back. The bus runs infrequently and you have to buy the ticket on the bus. Once in Geres, if you don't have a car, you can find out about the trails from the tourist info center so you can get into the park. We also opted for a 4 hr tour with Carlos at Lobos Tours and it was worth the $40 to see all the parts of the park and some of the small villages and the waterfalls. He was born and raised there and has alot of knowledge of the area. One bummer of the visit was the Parque de Termas is only open intermittently and was closed when we were there. Apparently this is a problem. If you want a hot spring dip, you need to go to the Spanish border. Not far away, but need transport. It is a nice village overall.

Geres is a unique place where you can see nature in its best, there are so many attractions even on low-session, and plenty of native restaurants along all routes, i have been there for 5/6 years in a row and I am still impressed with the place as you can see my own photographs attached. Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning.
Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning. Views are amazing. There are plenty of bars and cafes, and a small well stocked supermarket. It has a good public transport network. We hired a kayak twice during our stay with AML.

Don't try to go to Geres for a long weekend, it's not enough time but if that's all you have, then don't miss it! Amazing hiking and quaint villages all around. We chased waterfalls for 3 days and loved it.
The Sao Bento da Porta Aberta Sanctuary was so unique and loved the juxtaposition of the old and new churches. Stunning tiles in the new museum.
We also had a quick stop at the Vilarinho das Furnas dam. We love dams but still cool to see. A short easy walk from the dam is a cute waterfall and a perfect spot for a picnic.
Keep your eyes peeled for wild horses and shepherds with their cows and goats.
The town of Geres itself is small but I really enjoyed a quick stroll around town and found some great artisan shops to get souvenirs.

We had a fantastic time in Geres.
We had a fantastic time in Geres. The staff at Baltazar Hotel were extremely helpful and kind- especially Orlando. We had a challenging and beautiful hike and spent one afternoon with a guide who showed us so much of the park. The food and generosity of the Baltazar staff was wonderful. We would come back for a longer stay next time and recommend to anyone.

Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom...
Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom of the surrounding mountains near the hotel. Hotel was very clean, and big. I was pleasantly surprised. Polite man at the reception when we got there, very attentive and prompt when requests were made. My only advise to anyone checking out in the early hours, e.g. around 03.30am is to allow extra time because there may not be anyone readily available as they will be carrying out other tasks (as the polite lady mentioned when the bell at reception wasnt attended to with the usual promptness). Other than that, extremely wonderful stay
Me and my husband loved the views from the room and the traditional design and decor of the hotel building which is made of timber and stone - it is a gem in Gerês village. The mattresses and pilows were very comfortable. The breakfast also had plenty of options with fresh fruits, pancakes, cereals, yogurts, juices, fresh bread, etc. Overall we had a splendid week here and couldn't recomend it more. Thank you!
Gerês Guest House was a fantastic place to stay to adventure around the national park! It was central, and they were so helpful with telling me about places to go and things to see. The room was nice and clean, not any less than I needed. Again the owner was so helpful, and it was the perfect place to stay for a few days of hiking.
Gorgeous art deco hotel at an unbeatable price. It's probably more in the Summer months but it was only $95 for 2 rooms for my aunt and I in March. Check in was easy and the host recommended restaurants and started a big fire in the beautiful fire place for us. Breakfast was included and it was very nice. Great experience overall.
Staff was very cordial and helpful. Great breakfast buffet. The wonderful view and generous balcony size invited us to read books after exploring the natural beauty of Geres park. Parking spaces near the hotel are reserved and within very short distance, definitely a plus, considering the space available on the hillside.
The host was very frendly and provided us the extra blanket and heater. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, ham, chees, cereal, cofee with milk, jam. The location is good, walking distance to popular street in Geres with supermarkets, termal spa etc.
Host allowed us to checkin earlier than specified time.
Amazing location and staff - very helpful and friendly. Breakfast went above and beyond expectations. Room very nice and clean, small but definitely spacious enough. Bathroom bigger than expected. Overall, really great stay with all of Geres (incl some of the hiking trails around) at just a few steps away
Amazing family hotel in Geres! Staff was super friendly and service orientated. Room was spacious and had a great view to the water. AC existed and was needed in August.
Restaurant offers delicious Portuguese cuisine for dinner and lunch. Had dinner there nearly every evening during our stay.
we were a group of 8 friends visiting Peneda Geres and Cantinho Verde T3 was a great place to stay. We had plenty of room, the hosts were welcoming, and the fresh bread every morning delicious! it is away from the bustle in Geres, but with a market and restaurants nearby…. perfect for us.
Nation Geres is more like as hostel, but with private bathroom and big terraces. Breakfest is served, but in evening time you can prepare by yourself in common kitcen. Very good locatin fir walking tours and also for traveling with car. Nice restaurant is close to hotel.
The view from our balcony and ease of access to the town. Parking opposite the hotel. Breakfast was good with orange juice and scrambled eggs offered although it seems this was forgotten on our second day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool nearby was great.
Lovely room with balcony that overlooks the balcony. Decent breakfast. Owner offered us a tour of the national park, which was wonderful and gave us a chance to meet others also staying at the hotel. Bed was comfortable.
a true gem in Geres, very spacious , clean nice apartment where you start the day with starting the fireplace to get the warm water (we loved that). this is a real great value place for the price you pay
The balcony and the view were spectacular. The location to the park was very convenient. There were several restaurants nearby and the restaurant in the hotel was very good with great service.
The staff are amazing! We went hiking and one of the receptionists went to pick us up with her own car because there were no free taxies in Gerês!
Super nice and convenient!
Super attentive hosts. Spectacular poolside and terrace views. Super clean. Mostly new finishes. Close to Geres National Park and town. Bonus: Tour guide lives next door
