Enjoyed a lovely walk around Picton and along the coastline. Did a fabulous half day morning boat trip cruising around Charlotte Sound which was great, and ate dinner at the Oxley Hotel, also very good.

We loved the harbour views!
We loved the harbour views! There was also a good selection of cafes and restaurants, which all had friendly service and competitive pricing. We enjoyed our one-night stay and walked everywhere with ease.

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.
Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

we were only there overnight, we took an early morning Ferry. the motel was in a great location, we could walk around town and to our restaurant for an evening meal. the reception Lady was wonderfully helpful
he location of the hotel is excellent, but unfortunately, my experience there was terrible. Despite informing the hotel through Booking.com about our late arrival due to a ferry delay, no one was present to receive us upon our arrival. We found a notice outside the locked door with a contact number, but unfortunately, it was not reachable. As a result, my family and I were left stranded outside in the rain and cold weather. Despite my efforts to reach the hotel, I did not receive any notifications or messages from them at all.
The property was very close to the main streets. There were lots of eateries just around the corner from the hotel in easy walking distance. It was a 5 minute walk to the train station and the ferry terminal. Very close to the Picton foreshore as well. Staff were very friendly and had our room ready to check in when. We arrived.off the ferry earlier than stated. They were happy.to hold our luggage as well if we had to wait for check-in.
Elizabeth, who looked after us, was fabulous and utterly charming - just like the hotel. The Luxury Room we stayed in was lovelier and bigger than expected, especially the bathroom. They brought us fresh croissants with jams and butter on one of the last mornings and they were incredible! The petit fours and wine on arrival also made us feel very special.
The staff was very welcoming. The room was neat and clean and perfect for a couple. Fresh and clean towels were also provided. There was free breakfast - bread, butter and jam. Coffee, tea and milk powder was also available. The other backpackers were also cool and friendly. Would recommend the place to anyone who would like to stay in picton.
The hotel is well situated on the main road through the shopping precinct.
The check in was easy & quick.
The rooms are decidedly small but have just about everything anyone really needs for an overnight stop.
Directly across the road is a restaurant called The Barn. Excellent food and ambience.
The location is spot on, virtually waterfront and a room with a view. I love Picton and think its underrated. This motel is fine and reasonably priced for its facilities and convenience. Well functioning bathroom, extra pillows etc and comfortable.
the hotel's location was perfect. Just a short walk to the town centre and a number of good watering holes and meals.
The room was very clean and fully stocked to make the stay enjoyable.
If asked I wouldn't hesitate to say go for it
Pure luxury, the most beautiful apartment we had so far. Stunning views onto Picton and Queen Charlotte Sound. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the evenings in front of the fireplace. Just like home.
Fantastic backpacker hostel if you are backpacking in New Zealand. Very cheap and you can meet a lot of people. Also a nice cosy place and the staff are very helpful. The selfmade free dessert on 7pm is a very sweet touch too.
I had booked my father in for a night before his birthday so he could have breakfast at the hotel on his birthday and the woman told him there was no breakfast included. Absolutely disappointed
This is our second stay. It’s a great backpackers motel, very clean, well equipped and organized, great value and a few minutes walk from the town and harbour.
Excellent location and friendly, helpful staff. The motel was perfect for my one night stay. The bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean.
The view from our room/balcony was superb, fantastic atmosphere. If we ever come back to Picton we will definitely want to return to Harbour View Hotel.
