We went to a pub at night before our show at the Victoria concert hall,. We had a excellent breakfast at the buttermilk cafe.

Cobourg has something for everybody.
Cobourg has something for everybody. It's a quiet town with an interesting combination of (1) a sizeable marina catering to serious boaters & sailors, (2) a large sandy public beach area that attracts mostly families, and (3) a quaint historical tourist/restaurant zone that seems to be frequented mostly by seniors.

The town was charming.
The town was charming. Nice old homes, a beautiful large beach with a nice marina as well. Some nice restaurants and very close to Port Hope which we visited as well.
Unfortunately they roll up the sidewalks downtown between 8pm and 9pm. We left our room on Saturday night at 9:30pm to get something to eat and everything was closed except the fast food joints close to the highway.

Cobourg is a delightful town full of history and boasts the best beach on Lake Ontario (in our experience). It's very accessible, not only by road but enjoys excellent train service as well. Although it is growing quite quickly it has managed to retain its small town charm.
Jane was a caring and thoughtful hostess. Her accomodation is a special gem, especially if you want to relax a little. The highlight of the accommodation is definitely the cozy place on the waterfront with a private beach. In town, I was able to get to everything important without a car and found some good cafés/shops/restaurants to eat or take away food.
The restaurant exceeded all expectations. A small but mighty wine list and excellent meals. Best steak I’ve had in Ontario. My sons butter chicken was perfect, light, aromatic, flavorful. Large, beautifully appointed rooms. The best sleep I’ve had in weeks thanks to the comfortable bed and privacy. I will be staying there again.
We had an awesome ladies getaway The hotel facilities and staff were excellent catering to our every need I would definitely go back here as food was amazing. Even the breakfast far exceeds any breakfast diner I’ve had in past. 2 days of pampering and relaxation without having to leave the premises
Lots of noise and shouting in the middle of the night, door lock to outside was dismantled and not working, there was vomit outside the front door, cooling system did not work, room was crazy hot and breakfast area was very crowded while the parking lot was virtually empty.
Price, location, a lot of restaurants around the motel within a few minutes drive...Cobourg beach (Victoria park) 6 minutes drive away, parking literally in front of the room door, very clean, 2 queen beds, it was perfect for what we needed
Take-away breakfast was adequate and convenient. Wifi was better than any of the 4* and 5* chains on our journey. Outside Cobourg proper, but only by about 5 minutes. Close to great local restaurant, Baltimore John's.
The location was perfectly situated between the waterfront and the shops (couple of minutes walk between each). The decor was great and we liked that the owners tried to keep some elements of the old prison .
The breakfast did not have very many options, there was no croissants, bagels, nor was there any cream cheese or fruit, which is unheard of at a hotel, even a motel would have those things.
I loved that we were able to explore the entire hotel being that it was an old jail.
The staff was very friendly and very accommodating.
It was close to almost everything that you needed.
