Don't believe the online videos or guidebooks that say that the whole of Meknes is a building site! While there is a lot of renovation going on, there are still marvelous things to see and do. The medina is very interesting and comes with very little hassling. Its worth taking a day trip - or longer - to the mid Atlas mountains.

I didn't enjoy Meknès itself that much but I would certainly recommend visiting the partially restored Roman city ruins of Volubilis. It's about a 45 mins drive up the mountains. Keep your speed limited to 60 km/h though as there are a lot of police speed traps! It costs 70 dh to enter the grounds and around 200 dh to get a guide to show you around (mine spoke excellent English).

We only stayed 1 night to see Volubulis.
We only stayed 1 night to see Volubulis. We should have stayed longer. The vendors had quality merchandise and prices were by far better than Fes and Marrakech. Our hosts were very hospitable. The room was comfortable and beautiful. This town is the real heart of Morocco.

Many attractions are covered up, undergoing constructions.
Many attractions are covered up, undergoing constructions. Not much to do here for 3;days.
Medina: alleys are dusty, lots of cats poop along the way. Cats roaming these alleys look dirty and sickly.
Better Options: Stay in Fes and just travel to Meknes for a day to see some attractions. Train ride to Meknes is only 28 dirhams one way. Option 2 - stay in a riad in Meknes for 1 day.

Relatively relaxed and hassle free.
Relatively relaxed and hassle free. A lot of renovation is going on (September 2023) so some monuments and museums are closed. The Jamai museum is excellent. Nearby Volubilis is also well worth a visit. Fez is roughly an hour away by car/bus/train so an easy day trip.

Meknes is going thorough significant change and refurbishment - especially the medina and square. The souk are no longer traditional - they are markets catering to local people. The city clearly has some fantastic history and the Riad we stayed in was part of that but I didn’t see enough attraction for more than a very short visit. If you are visited Volobulis, I would recommend staying in Moulay Iddriss instead.
The Riad has great location inside the Medina, with a lovely terrace overseeing the area where I enjoyed the panoramic views for both sunrise and sunset in Meknes. The staff here are super friendly and helpful, really making you comfortable like being at home and never hesitated to share tips about the region. the room is spacious, clean, well equipped with nice hot shower. I’d recommend it to anyone traveling to Meknes for more than a day trip!
This Riad made meknes one of our favourite towns in Morocco. Bob and his sisters are absolutely incredible. So friendly, accomodating and fun to be around. The Riad is impeccable. So much thought and beauty in the designs and so clean. The rooms are huge and very comfy. We already miss staying here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone going to meknes!! Thank you so much Bob!
We spend only one night in this Riad, but we wished we stayed longer. It was one of the best Riad experiences we had in 2 weeks of morocco. The hospitality, cleanliness and food were unmatched. We felt like at home with Rhizlenne as host. We enjoyed the conversations and the chill atmosphere. I 100% would recommend this Riad to everyone.
Worst experience ever. We couldn't sleep all night because of the sound coming from the cabaret and screaming all night long. We wanted to leave the day after but the "manager" didn't want to refund us our money and was very rude. hopefully, I live in morocco so I know my rights and these incompetent will hear form us very soon
The best accomodation we had on our trip through Morocco!
Room and bathroom was clean (windows are to the inside of the Riad, but that is the traditional old Moroccan style). Whole Riad is very stylish and well decorated. Moroccan breakfast was also really good. The host is very nice and we had an interesting chat.
If you are looking to stay in the heart of the medina this is a great spot. We were welcomed even after calling to notify the hotel that we would be late checking in after 10PM. However, Im not sure how it has received such high ratings. It is probably because of how cheap it is per night based on USA prices.
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station, I got a pretty spacious room with AC, a nice coffee table, clean bathroom with shower. Professional and very accommodating staff members especially the guys at the reception, delicious breakfast with a good set of options. .
Highly recommended 👌
My husband and I spent one night here, and wished we had more time! We felt very welcome and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The riad was very quiet and clean and both dinner and breakfast was authentic and tasty.
Thank you for making our first night in Morocco an amazing one!
This is a superb riad in the center of Meknes old medina. The restoration is stunning. It is not easy to find -- we hired a porter where a car dropped us off to navigate the narrow and mazelike streets of the medina -- but the journey was worth it. Tremendous place overall.
Great Location in the old town.
The roof top terrace is awesome, some of the highest views of Meknes.
Good Wifi and first proper hot shower I’ve had in Morocco
Beds are comfortable in the dorm and no bunk beds
staff were amazing and very polite and professional
Favourite Riad in Morocco for beauty and services I wish I would have stayed longer.
Everything was perfect, from the room to the patio and the terrace.
The staff will make you feel at home the minute you enter. Loved every detail
The hotel is big, nice, great location👍
+ a great lady who helped us, we forgot our passports in the room and she helped us a lot with the delivery of passports via bus transport to the south of Morocco
The only thing good in this place is the staff, other than that it is disgusting.
I have been in many Ibis hotels around the world but this one was a shock to me, it feels dirty with old furniture.
The location of the hotel worked perfectly for the purpose of my stay in Meknes it was within walking distance from where my daughter attended her study abroad program
The staff were kind
