It's a nice city but not as amazing as others in Peru.
It's a nice city but not as amazing as others in Peru. Plenty to do if you're young and adventurous, and some good attractions nearby including the town of Llamas and its Castle and several waterfalls. A lot of excellent restaurants and the "Plaza de Armas" (town square) is brand new and very impressive. The city is noisy, however, and the roads are a mess. Lots of stray dogs, also, which is a problem all over Peru. (Watch out for poop on the sidewalks!)

Tarapoto and the surrounding areas have some interesting attractions including a number of waterfalls and also the Castle in Lamas. Good starting point for a visit to the Peru Selva. Traveled from Tarapoto to Laguna Azul in Sauce which is very nice

Sandra, Mercedes, and all the family are amazing, super nice, helpful, interesting. You feel at home from the beginning. It's a nice place to stay, chill, and visit around if you want. The room was nice with a private bathroom and AC. You also have rooftop to chill and a big swimming pool. They prepare a really nice breakfast (the last day, Sandra did our breakfast a 6.30 am before our leaving) I definitely recommend this place!! Muchas Gracias para todo !!!

It is a surprise when you enter the property because behind the door if garden environment. The staff are wonderful especially one of the waiters, Juan who was kind and available every day. There is a nice size pool where you can have drinks. The restaurant is nearby with a very good menu. The rooms were spacious with large bathrooms; the beds very comfortable. Housekeeping attended too the room very well. The staff also made our stay very special.

The couple who runs the hostel is extremely friendly and welcoming. The husband picked me up at the airport. They were both able to offer me lots of information on things to do in Tarapoto and were always checking on me to see if everything is alright. We had yummy breakfast in the courtyard and watched monkeys play on the trees at the same time; they were very cute. The room was clean and even had air conditioner.
