The Bear is in the middle of a beautiful common full of wild flowers above Stroud, it was extremely convenient to the event I was attending. The hotel is lovely, staff friendly & the standard of service - amazing, I couldn't fault a thing. Would definitely use again

Our stay at the Burleigh Court Hotel exceeded the (already high) expectations we had for our trip to the Cotswolds. The location is stunning, the staff was very friendly and helpfull with good suggestions for local activities and places to go to. The gardens and many places to sit are superb. Stroud is quite a big town in Gloucestershire and, as such, it has all of the shops and amenities one would expect. Plus, with a taxi rank, train station and frequent bus services to/from Cheltenham and Gloucester, among other places, the town is well connected. I would recommend it as a base from which to explore Gloucestershire.

Vibrant, friendly and historic town full of stylish places to eat and drink, unique gift shops surrounded by beautiful countryside. Local bus service was also very reliable on the Saturday ( well - better than my own at home anyway!). Public toilets in the town were clean and convenient. I was on my own but felt safe even at nighttime. Would recommend the indoor market, Stroud Bookshops, as well as Cornflower and Calico for kitchenware gifts. The Coffee House and Curio Lounge Cafe Bar were great places to visit as well.

Amberley Inn was in a village outside Stroud, the area was very picturesque and plenty to do in the area. The Aboretum at Batsford was exceptional with lovely autumn colour and the Cotswold Villages are a delight.

Stroud is only 2 miles from the home of my childhood & youth 58-74 It the focal point of 5 Valleys all beautiful every season. The whole area is protected, as are the Cotswolds and its a must stay. Well connected by the train and buses with a labyrinth of country lanes and greenery for car travellers. A canal and lots of old industrial history, once a main centre of the SW England WOOL TRADE, it remains rich with villages pubs restaurants, hill top views and lowland vales, many clear for 20 to 30 miles 360 degrees, a paradise to behold

I came here for my birthday and had a great rooms. The bed was super comfy in the room. It was very warm but was provided with fans. We loved the complimentary teas, biscuits etc. Lots of storage to keep things. Very practical bathroom with walk in shower. Cleanliness of rooms was excellent. The breakfast was beautiful and very tasty. We also loved Painswick which is further away out to Stroud but we preferred it. The staff in the evening waiting on tables for dining provided great service. Parking on site.

Lovely hotel surrounded by picturesque countryside while being very close to larger Stroud. The location is good assuming you have a car where nothing we wanted to do in the Cotswolds was more than a 45 minute drive. The value for money here was great, with a surprisingly good breakfast included, and decent comfort and amenities. Parking was plentiful and easy with a large lot in the rear of the property. I would stay here again without hesitation.

The room we stayed in was really beautiful and spacious. There was plenty of storage space and it even had a chaise lounge to relax on. The bed was large and very comfortable. The food at The Falcon is excellent and we can recommend the pies which were really tasty. The breakfast is great too with plenty of choice cooked well. We really liked Painswick it is a really pretty village with lovely walks around it.

Lovely location for this mini-manor house, on a hill overlooking the Stroud valley. If you can have an 18th century boutique-style hotel, then this is it: a delightful Cotswold gem. Super friendly staff, and excellent food and ambience. Not cheap, but well worth the experience. We were there in winter, but must be even better in summer looking out over that lush Cotswold countryside.

I don't eat breakfast. I spent most of my childhood living near The Laurels, yet never really noticed how beautiful the area was. A fantastic local pub (The Old Fleece) didn't detract from my enjoyment of my stay.
