I really liked your staff particularly the lovely dark haired lady on reception who was very kind and attentive and looked after me extremely well. I forgot to ask her name but she was on duty Sunday afternoon 28th April and Tuesday 23rd April 2024. If you have an employee of the month award please can I nominate her for that or your equivalent. You are very lucky to have such lovely staff!

Visited for golf as part of a society. Beautiful golf course and outstanding facilities in a lovely part of Oxfordshire. If you are a golfer, despite heavy overnight rain the course held up really well with no flooding on the greens at all. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Food choice and quality excellent. The lodges are very new, modern in style, comfortable. Good parking too. No complaints at all. I think the whole group will be returning again soon.

Pleasant room. Good bed. Older room with some updates. Sitting by the fire in the pub was a highlight.

Goring itself was disappointing, but it's a good base for surrounding attractions. Our main gripe was parking - the hotel had none and the small public car park 150M away was 7 day charging 8 to 6, so you'd have to go out early to feed the machine before breakfast. 1 hour free, then quite expensive. Only alternative was very limited street parking - in high demand by residents. Two other pubs were closed at lunchtime and not sure they were open evenings either.

A really attractive and friendly village.
A really attractive and friendly village. We had our labrador with us and there was a village green opposite and if she had not been lame we would have taken advantage of the wonderful wallks around the towpath. Easy crossing over the bridge to Streatley. Lots of interesting towns and villages around the area. Excellent parking facilities.

I had worked there when younger over 40 years ago. I had not returned during this time, thought I would like to visit old haunts eg "The Bull". The places were the same. I was not disappointed and thinking it is a place I could live in. The wildlife and Thames has a lot to offer. I ate and stayed at "The Miller" fabulous place full of history. Very easy to walk around the small village. Everyone happy to have a chat. I missed a local event.

Goring is a lovely village in all seasons.
Goring is a lovely village in all seasons. It sits on the Thames and has a spectacular weir. If you like to walk you'll love Goring, and it's heaven if you are into canoeing or paddle boarding.
However, it's a small village that shuts down early, even on weekdays. Not many shopping options, and after 4 pm it's hard to find groceries.
There are a couple of nice pubs on the Goring side of the river, and The Swan on the Streatley side, which I don't recommend.

It depends, what you like, it was pretty out in the sticks, but had a station, at least one (lovely) pub, it was quiet and close to the ridgeway and the thames path. Ideal for walkers, cyclists, runners, probably not much fun for town-lovers

After stumbling across Goring last September we fell in love right away. Such a peaceful and pretty village. We very much enjoying the Catherine Wheel pub, Miller of Mansfield and the Pierreponts cafe. I find it an typically quaint English village that meets all your needs.
We also enjoyed a trip on the River Thames cruises which departed Goring on the Sunday and this just rounded up or trip perfectly.
Location was about a 10 minutes walk from the centre of Goring. We were on foot as walking the Thames Path. Breakfast was amazing and set us up really well for the next days walk. Everything very clean. Rose lent us a torch to walk back into Goring for dinner and also dried our coats or her air drier.
This is a stunning hotel and we would have stayed longer if there had been space. We loved the decor and vibe of the place and our room. It felt luxurious and spoiling. Painted white floors and lovely design features. The window overlooked the buzz of the street which we enjoyed.
Breakfast was very good. Value for money was good as well, lots of hotels/ inns have gone up so much in last few years they are often unaffordable and overpriced. This felt a fair price to pay for a night, which was very much welcomed.
We were cycling the King Alfred's Way. Melrose cottage was the perfect place to stay. Secure bike storage, a lovely host, fantastic breakfast and a short walk into Goring in the evening with plenty of options for food and drinks.
Excellent evening with the Fleetwood Mad Tribute band. People were very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. Hotel very well positioned in relation to the train station and village. Good Christmassy feel.
Friendly and helpful staff, a buzzy bar, great breakfast choices freshly cooked. Fresh bedding and great towels. Close to the railway station and local amenities in both Goring and Streatley
Good location for exploring Goring and handy for the train station. Lovely breakfast, really friendly staff. Would stay again and would recommend these premises.
