Dunoon is still developing as a destination.
Dunoon is still developing as a destination. It is however a good base for travelling around Argyle and the Cowal peninsula. There are plenty of ferry links relatively to allow travel on Bute, The Mull of Kintyre and on to Arran as well as the link to Inverclyde. We were there for two half days but managed to see Puck's Glen and the Benmore Botanic Gardens, both well worth a visit. Had a nice sit in Fish Supper beforwe going to a concert in the Burgh Halls. Beautiful town with gorgeous scenery.
Beautiful town with gorgeous scenery. The Castle Museum is well worth a visit as the staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming. The history of Dunoon is fascinating. The Lorne Inn is a great place to eat but there are plenty of other places too. Puck’s Glen with waterfall walk is nearby and the Botanic Garden is close by also. I found Dunoon to be a pleasant and friendly town with all the amenities i needed. Cowal is a beautiful part of Scotland with tremendous opportunities for outdoor recreation. A trip to Benmore gardens was worthwhile and the surrounding area is outstandingly beautiful. Dunoon it.self is beginning to feel a bit run down and neglected, very limited eating options at night even at the weekend where you strugle to find anywhere after 8pm still serving food apart from carry out food .
