The Ambleside Inn - The Inn Collection Group, hotel in Ambleside

Located in the pretty Lake District village of Ambleside, this 18th-century hotel is situated in the centre of this historic town, with all the amenities on your doorstep.

I turned up after a terrible journey with my dog and was stressed to say the least, he's hard to handly alone at the best of times but he was bouncing off the ceiling by the time we finally arrived! The staff were amazing and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was lovely. Thankyou for having me and Fraser the Vizsla :-)

Ambleside is a good starting point for day trips around the lakes. There are plenty of restaurants including a Michelin restaurant...advance booking advised. There is a waterfall 20 minutes walk from the town centre. Pubs with live music most evenings. Windermere is only about 7 minutes by car or half an hour walk.

The area itself is amazing, loads of pubs, bars and restaurants around all offering various meals, I would book in advance for most of them to avoid disappointment. Pitch & putt really good or mini golf for families. plenty of walks around and further if you desire. regular bus service to other areas of the lakes.

    Beautiful town and friendly people.

Beautiful town and friendly people. We ate lunch three times (in four days!) at Fresher's Café and really enjoyed the food (obviously). They have their own delicious home-made quiches. I am sure this has to be the friendliest place to eat in the Lake District. Special mention to Michael, who was super helpful and humorous. On the day we did not eat there, we went next door! To the Great North Pie Co and I had the best steak and ale pie I have ever had. It was served on mashed potato, with mushy peas and onion gravy.

Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District.

Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District. We didn’t have a car and honestly had no need for one as it was easy to reach by train and had plenty of local busses - including hikes that start at centre of town. Enough dining options and overall “village” feeling without it being too busy or too quiet / isolated. Traveled as a couple so cannot comment on appropriateness if a family

The room was excellent, clean, spacious and with good facilities. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony, even if the view of the lake was somewhat impeded by a large tree. The staff were very helpful and could not have been kinder, especially when my wife stumbled and hurt her hand. The wifi did not initially work, but by day 2 it was working very well. Ambleside is less than a mile away and we had a wonderful meal there at Lucy's on a Plate. Also the ferry stop is about 100 yards from the hotel.

The lodge was really lovely. very clean, a very comfy bed and everything you need for a few days away in Ambleside. We were in one of the dog friendly rooms which was in an annex at the back of the lodge and just perfect for having a dog as we didn’t need to traipse through the B&B when we needed to let the dog out. The location is perfect for the town centre and has free parking. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again

Very nice modern property in the heart of Ambleside. Dedicated parking right outside the door. We came in the winter but I imagine the parking space is worth its weight in gold in the summer. Comfortable and warm. Dog friendly with a great park for walking them 2 minutes away. Owners communicated quickly when we needed them. Full cooking facilities should you desire. Looks better than the photos.

Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room exceeded our expectations and the views from our room were amazing. Located in the center of Ambleside and just a few minutes walk out from the shops and all the restaurants.

Staff were wonderful. Room was beautiful and really spacious! Breakfast included option made it amazing value for money. The breakfast running 30 mins beyond check out time really helps in the morning! The use of the car park until the next guests arrive is such a brilliant touch that costs the hotel nothing but would really encourage me to book again!
