Are we in paradise or Eden? We can imagine looking on to the waters a world without humankind other than an occasional fishing boat passing by. We turn our backs and look towards the resort designed in a U shape with an excellent integration of traditional crafted architecture.

The property is in a beautiful location overlooking the backwaters. Clean and spacious home with everything you need. The owner and her family are especially lovely, her youngest daughter even taught us how to catch a fish in the river. The owner can organise any tours or boat rides you want. River fish is caught in the evening and served for dinner with delicious accompaniments. Breakfast is also very good.

The evening shikara ride was great for our group and was at the right price point - 2000 rupees for 2 hours for 2 families. The bird sanctuary was a big disappointment as there is not much to see and the facilities are also very poor - of the two bird watching towers one is damaged and other does not have a great view. Not many species of birds could be seen or heard, its more of a nature walk than a bird sanctuary.

As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise.
As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise. As the gates shut the noise and hustle bustle of an Indian town were left outside.
The beautiful old buildings in heritage style, lovely garden with trees and the only sound that of birdsong. It didn’t end there. All the staff from Vaisakh the Manager, Amal the Chef, the lady helping in the kitchen and the lady constantly sweeping the floors and working in the garden were helpful, courteous and always had a cheerful smile. The two men were happy to enter into conversations with us when they were not busy. They also responded immediately when asked for anything.
The food was delicious and well cooked but they found it amusing that we couldn’t handle the chillis in some of the dishes.
The pool was clean and cool and very welcoming in the heat.
We spent a very happy and relaxing week at Brookside Heritage Resort and it was the best place to start our Kerala adventure after a long and arduous journey from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in a property that gave us half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) and had in-house activities such as a sunset boat cruise and an evening cultural show. All this reinforced the kerala theme and made for a wonderful experience.

The backwaters are unique with water lilies and a wide variety of birds that can be viewed in a Shikara at dawn. A houseboat to spend the day and enjoy local cuisine served using fresh fish caught and sold by fisherwomen on the banks is a fabulous experience.

Kumarakom is a lovely back water locality, away from the hustle bustle of the city. Its a relaxing environment where you can disconnect from the busy world outside and yet if you need to get back to it, it's just nearby.
This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at as part of our trip around Kerala; but it was worth it. Lovely place, the gardens, room and pool area all great. The buffet food was excellent as was the breakfast. Lots of options re alcohol/drinks. It is next door to the bird sanctuary so do the early morning walk around the ground with the expert. We also booked a boat ride from there which was really great. Loved the Chai woman in the afternoon. arriving by boat was special. The staff were so professional and friendly.
This property had everything you could ask for
Grounds - kept perfectly
Pool - clean, attended with excellent service - nice towels and beds
Restaurant - good choice of food, wonderful staff and excellent standard of food
Afternoon tea and sunset boat trip are a lovely end to perfect days by the river.
Spa - treatments are fantastic and staff lovely
Reception - all staff are kind and professional. Nothing is too much trouble they go above and beyond throughout the hotel.
Divya and Dileep have made a lovely homestay in an idyllic location. The quiet location adds to the tranquility of the stay, with multiple boating facilities on hand to explore the backwaters. Divya made us a fabulous lunch to take on our cruise, which was really delicious and made the experience extra special! We really enjoyed staying at Mango Kerala and with amazing value for money, we’d recommend it to anyone travelling around the state. Thank you!
- lovely view of backwaters
- free on site activities such as badminton, archery, bicycling, swimming pool
- free tea time from 4.30pm-5.30pm serving chai and some snacks like banana fritters
- location was clean, nice and quiet
- lakeroom view was spacious and very comfortable
- spa facilities available even though we did not use it.
- ability to pay for room using international card
Gigantic swimming pool was a hit with the kids and also great for swimming laps. The layout with bungalows facing the pool is very family friendly. Food was above average for the price point. Enjoyed the live music. Nice game room and badminton court. Accommodating staff. I have stayed at several other resorts in Kumarakom and this one is the best value and most kid-friendly.
The property and staff was amazing. The location is right next to Lake and all the amenities were upto the mark. I went there for my anniversary and they even prepared a cake for me on their own. The staff is very courteous and helped us with all our queries.
Excellent stay. Calm and quite atmosphere. The view towards lake was awesome. You can just sit and relax from your cottage with the view available. The food was very good. A perfect recipe for family vacation. The staff was also very friendly.
Loved the place and the views. Pretty location good staff. In house boating is the best. Totally recommend this place. If you get a discount it is worth it. Value for money during off season is difficult. But all in All a good experience
The Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch was highly commendable ! Good food and the staff very friendly. The Hotel rooms were very clean and well furnished. The staff all round always willing to help with a smile. Well done and keep it up!
Well maintained traditional house with friendly staff. Very neat (especially the pool) and comfortable. The best place I stayed at Kumarakom in this budget.
