Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
The location and in particular the view from the hotel terrace are stunning
Breakfast was good, stuff very helpful. The location of the hotel on the edge of the little town is perfect -
Allows you to drive up to the hotel and park your car.
Montalcino is charming, the perfect location, to experience the beauty of Southern Tuscany - it also has various restaurants, some of which are excellent and reasonable; again the hotel recommended two very good ones.
We loved everything here. Located near by the centre of Montalcino and only about 100 m away from Eroica start. Apart from the erocia event weekend there was a quiet and very relaxing atmosphere in the house and garden. We really enjoyed it to walk only a few minutes to the centre. Coop is also nearby. We will surely come back! Thanks to the excellent hosts of Villa Stella!
One of the best stays we had in Italy. A great base to explore the Chianti region and Montalcino. The farm is an actual operational wine farm with great wines. The restaurant on site is a must with some of the best Tuscan meals we had. The breakfast is excellent. Comfortable spacious stay. Very friendly staff and a beautiful setting. Will definitely return.
a typical tuscany house with a rustic feel, located in the heart of Montalcino with many restaurants and bars in walking distance, our room offered spectacular views, even from the bathroom, no parking possibility near the premises, it is a Z.T.L (zona traffico limitato), you can access by car within a specified timeframe to drop off and pick up the luggage
We loved everything about this gorgeous, family run hotel!
We were blessed with the most stunning views from our terrace room and loved the elegant yet rustic charm. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and again, in such lovely rooms.
The staff are relaxed yet highly professional and extremely helpful.
We loved our stay!
The property is stunning. It’s a close walk to the nearby village where we had excellent dinners. The breakfasts were fantastic, the gardens are impeccable. It was nice to cool off in the afternoon in the pool. We absolutely loved our stay, I would love to return. The Montalcino area is so breathtakingly beautiful.
Fabio the Fabulous host cooked up and prepared a fabulous breakfast. The location was a little bit difficult to find but once there had amazing views of Brunello Wine Country. Fabio hooked us up with a free winery tour that was quite good as well. Highly recommend this host and place to stay in Montalcino
Every corner of the hotel is touched with attention to detail, loved the antique furnitures and the decorations. The location and the view of the landscape give just the authentic Tuscany feeling. Pool area is very cool. The beds are very comfortable. We recommend the vertical tasting at sunset.
it is very well maintained, clean and the facilities are great. The owner is very welcoming and helpful, the town is a 10 minute car ride from the hotel so its convenient. The room is amazing and the bathroom is very big (Deluxe double room).
The hotel was in a perfect location,- very clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I got my best nights sleep here on our entire 3 week trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Can’t say enough good things about this place!
EXCELLENT hotel! central location in a FABULOUS town. Professional, friendly staff,
good breakfast selections. Beautiful pool and outside gardens. Walking distance to all town attractions, shops & restaurants.
Good located accommodation near Montalcino, the winery is beautiful including the italian cedar tree entrance :)
They offer a rich breakfast buffet with jams, salamis cuts, etc.
Room was dated, but very clean and nice. The hotel has a pool, rather cold, and a spectacular view. Staff were very helpful at breakfast which was good.
