I found the shop shop and restaurant staff to be very rude and dismissive if they could not understand you. Avoid rehat kebab shop just off the square by the opera house as the old woman tries to short change you. If you wish to take van/bus to berat or other destinations. You need to go to plepa. And not rruga adria as people tell you.taxi is 1000 but Local bus is 40 cents. You pay the conductor. Mini van to berat is 500 each way. Beautiful, long, sandy beach, bustling, bubbly town, lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, we absolutely loved it, we will definitely come back. The only negative is that almost only cash is used in the 21st century in this European country.

Rubbish everywhere. The beach is filthy, plastic bags and empty bottles are everywhere, even in the water. The beach and surroundings are disgusting. The water is not crystal clear like advertised. It's clearly a city that is growing its tourism sector by building new hotels and restaurants along the coast. Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from...
Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from Tirana as it’s a 30 minute bus ride and only 180 lek. However, this is a case of Instagram vs reality, the photos of the beach do not measure up. Unfortunately the beach is riddled with building debris and plastic waste, making it unsafe to walk on barefoot. I would not return and would not come here for a beach holiday. Sunsets on the beach were nice.

Durres is the largest seaport of the country and the oldest city in Albania with almost 3,000 years of history. Learning the history of this country was valuable in understanding the areas where I have been. Albania has suffered much under the cruel 40-year dictatorshp of Enver Hoxha that lasted until 1985. He was an atheist and ordered all buildings of worship to be destroyed. Thus, I have only seen a handful of churches and mosques. The Grand Mosque is located nearby and is a lovely piece of architecture. The calls to worship that come from the speakers on the minaret (pointing in all directions of the compass) are pleasant to hear even if they start at 6:00 a.m. The calls are heard 5 times a day and is a part of every day life. There are several open air archeological sites within walking distance. Museums were closed unfortunately during my entire 14-day stay. Cafes are everywhere and offer inexpensive tasty traditional food. It is obvious that the city is very affluent with the influx of tourism. The sidewalks in the centre are made of polished stone. English is spoken or understood in limited degrees but enough for me to be understood. When I pay for an item, I put the small change in my hand and they pick out the coins needed and are always careful to let me know what they are doing. Albanian currency is the LEK although they will accept euros at 100 LEK to 1 Euro. Durres has been my home for two weeks and it has been a relaxing and enjoyable time.Ines MundtCanada

The place is great, just next to archaeological muzeum of durres and there is a roof where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the bay. I took the chance to work remotely one day and the WiFi is very good, perfect place for remote work. And the owner Jakub is a great person. He let me have a shower before going to airport, even if it was way later my check out. Never in Europe it has me allowed to do so. Only in Albania!BledarItaly

Not to mention that in 3 minutes by driving you are either in Durres city center or in the seaside of the city. The staff was super welcoming, all the places of the hotel are extremely clean. The hotel offers also secure parking completely for free. Eventually, the room was super comfortable and nicely furnished. Love this hotel, will definitely go again!

It was my second time here and i enjoyed it so much, again. The rooms al nice, very clean and comfy. The balcony's are spacious and have seaview. There are beachbeds, but not to much packed to eachother. But the best thing is the staff and the family who runs this place. No question is to much and they see the question even before you do yourself. Albanian hospitality to the best. I cant wait to visit again!

You can take the bus just 40 Albanian Lek from there to the city center. On the other side it takes just about 10 minutes until city center. You can reach also the terminal with that bus. All in all, place was clean, you can find whatever you need stuff for cooking. From Tiran to Durres takes just 30 minutes with bus and it's really comfortable Note: Sarande and Ksamil is better than Durres 😊Mehmet BabatSwitzerland

The balcony clean and spacy. Parking in the garage is included in the price. The value for money is perfect. On top the breakfast was a large buffet, many flavors to choose from. The staff was professional and friendly, the housekeepers did a good job during the stay-over cleaning. I think this was the best hotel in Albania i stayed during my April trip

Very clean, with a terrace surrounding whole apartment and offering view to the city and sea. Very smooth keys collection and keys return procedure, a big plus was we got a parking spot just at the entrance to the building. Very good restaurants around, Artur for a bit more fancy dining and Zgara Dilo across the street for some more authentic Albanian taste. Overall, highly recommendable! 👍

There is not much to see in Durres and the beaches are not that clean (maybe because of the winter) but the hotel was nice, clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was not buffet, but the sizes and the amount of the things we received were very generous and tasty. The parking place is spacious and the hotel is easy to find and close to beach. It is right next to a main street but we didn't here any noise.
