When sunny, the town is very full of tourists.
When sunny, the town is very full of tourists. The train/bus station is very small for the amazing volume of vehicles and people that go through. So be prepared for crowded chaos at the station. Get the sightseeing bus pamphlet - this is a local town bus, the pamphlet shows you the attractions- it was handy. Popular attraction ropeway- great - but not remotely accessible- many many stairs and steep slopes. Good restaurant to the right of the exit of the ropeway.

We stayed for 3 nights - perfect for walking to sights like the pagoda, and a full day at Fuji Q. It meant we could choose our day according to the weather when most rides were open. There was a good variety of restaurants in the area, we had an especially good meal in ‘Aio’. Even in low cloud and rain it was interesting to wander round and fall into cafes and we had the pleasure of suddenly seeing the majesty of Mt Fuji when the clouds cleared. Fujiyoshida was a relaxing change to the tourist bustle of Kyoto and Nara which we’d just been to.

I stayed near the Shimoyoshida Station at Asumi Onsen.
I stayed near the Shimoyoshida Station at Asumi Onsen. I am very glad that I did not stay in Kawaguchiko, which is swamped by huge numbers of tourists from all over the world, causing long lines in every store anywhere near the train station. I got Mt. Fuji views from everywhere but my stay was relaxed and amongst the local Japanese, except at the Chureito Pagoda. Mountains and hiking paths were nearby. On my last day, I went to Kawaguchiko Station to pick up a bus back to Tokyo. One look at the long lines and tourists clogging the streets made me certain that I made the right choice to stay away from all that.

Fujiyoshida is a tourist area.
Fujiyoshida is a tourist area. Within half an hour drive around are ropeways, scenic areas, hikes temples and various other activities like quad bike riding, zip line, safari, rides, outlet shopping, etc. You need to be there to know what is there. For example, Mishima Sky Bridge is not just a scenic area but filled with lots of fun activities. A good time to go is to be able to catch the sunset on the bridge against Mount Fuji. Magical.

Fujiyoshida has some great viewing points for Fuji San, the town itself is quiet but has some lovely places to eat. Even though it is so close to the biggest tourist attraction in Japan it doesn’t feel busy with tourists.

The town was very quiet when we arrived on Sunday morning, which was a most welcome change after being in Tokyo for a few days. It is easy to travel between the town and Fuji Q Highland with the train. The shops in the town are quaint and we enjoyed our time there very much. Everyone we encountered was very welcoming and friendly and helpful.
The house was very big for Japanese customs. Beds were very comfortable, there were two bathrooms and two toilets so we had a lot of space and privacy before heading to Tokyo´s tiny hotel rooms. We especially loved the terrace and the view on Mount Fuji which was just fantastic. Having breakfast and evening drinks on the terrace was very relaxing, especially after climbing Mt. Fuji!
Very nice hotel we stayed at a renovated room on a higher level. Very cool to look over the park. There is free parking available. Entrance to the park is free for hotel guests but you have to pay per ride or buy a day pass for 6000 yen. Onsen was also very nice. Very nice view from the breakfast hall but if it’s raining you will not see mt Fuji.
The breakfast was delicious, lots of options. Do not miss dinner at the hotel - it's a must! The onsen with the Fuji view were amazing. We loved walking around the Japanese garden. But, the views, the room, the onsen & the dinner were flawless! We came in the dead of winter and there's nothing cosier sitting in the onsen looking at Mt. Fuji.
Absolutely loved the stunning view from the room. Even our first floor room had a lovely view of Mt. Fuji!
The public onsen was delightful and really refreshing after a long day of walking.
The hotel is not in the main Kawaguchiko town, and so it's quieter and peaceful. Loved the slice of quiet Japan life we got to experience.
Nice hotel. Located about 7 minutes walk from Fuji Q Highland park (from the south entrance which is not the entrance. Officially).
We got a room with an amazing view of Mount Fuji and it was amazing to start the day with this view.
The Wi-Fi in the room is fine, occasionally disconnects.
There is an Onsen in the hotel.
Traditional Japanese hostel. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful - they helped to book a bus to Tokyo and even cut the end off our walking sticks from mount Fuji so it would fit in our bags. The hostel was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here!
Hana, a wonderful and endearing person, at your service. We loved our stay! She is without a doubt the best host we met during our trip to Japan. If you go to Fujiyoshida you absolutely must stay there!
A big thank you for everything Hana
Maxime and Carolane :)
The place was clean and well maintained. I love how i can see the fuji mountain at when I was entering the hotel. There are 2 convenient stores just in front of the hotel and many places to eat near there too. It was quite far from the bus station but not that bad.
Great location - 1 or 2 mins walk fr fujisan stn. Convenient as restaurants, cafe, shops are nearby
Staff - friendly & can speak mandarin
Hotel - very clean, spacious, quiet. Provided good quality toiletries. Very thoughtful - even provide hair curler, etc
The hotel has hot spring. The breakfast is not bad. The room is larger than the usual hotel size in Japan. The view from our hotel room is stunning as can see the Fuji mountain very clearly. Only takes less than 10 mins walk from Fuji highland train station.
Best view and really homie . There are 3 rooms and the separate bathroom . Every corners are very clean . Link house near from fujisan station. In the morning i can enjoy your breakfast with best view i ever saw .
The hotel is easy to reach by high-way bus from Shinjuku station or by train. Mount Fuji is very near, you can enjoy seeing Fuji-san from many windows and from walking around the neighborhood around the hotel.
The hotel is located near the Mt Fuji whereas it is far away from the city center. We can clearly see the Mt Fuji view from your room. The hotel can pick you up from the Mt Fuji Station with the shuttle bus.
Great place if you are looking to stay at a traditional Japanese hotel. The owners were very kind and forthcoming, there was a private onsen and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend.
This hotel has a fantastic staff. The twin bedroom is clean and spacious and great for two adults or two travelers. The queen room is perfect for a couples. And the bed is actually pretty decent.
Nice to get out of a hotel and into our own space for the night. Comfy beds, great amount of space in the house too. Very clean and modern. Also a stunning view of Fuji from the balcony.
Fantastic staff large rooms and affordable prices
Free shuttle bus to main train station and onsen spa resort.
Extremely easy walk from train station(mt Fuji station) to hotel (3 Mins)
The hotel is 3 minutes' walk from the central station. A small and quiet hotel. The breakfast is very tasty. We got a room with 2 very comfortable beds and the room is very spacious.
