Crested Butte ski area is not very large so the runs are quite short. The ski area is best for beginner or expert skiers. The downtown area is quant but the food at 4 of the 5 restaurants we went to was mediocre and quite pricey.

This town, which we came to 10 years ago has changed .

This town, which we came to 10 years ago has changed . Hard to find a good restaurant or a good coffee shop. Locals are not friendly at all. I got the feeling that it is a very progressive town that looks a lot like a mix of Boulder and Nederland. the speed limit is mostly 10mph everywhere with 15mph thrown in here and there. This is a town where it is all about the folks who live there, not about the visitors spending money there. We are Colorado natives and won't be back.

I was in town for a conference.

I was in town for a conference. The free transportation around town and the mountain was fantastic! Staying in Crested Butte, I felt like I was in the land of Oz... I kept looking for the lollipop kids, then realized perhaps I was the lollipop kid! The food options in town were excellent. Incredible pizza at Secret Stash was like New York- perhaps better, if that's possible. and the Thai place, Thai Chili 78, was spot on.

    I love Crested Butte.

I love Crested Butte. I have been there a number of times before, and I continue to be spellbound by the beauty of the surrounding area. There are many gorgeous hiking trails, and in July the wildflowers were amazing. There is no end to outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rafting, kayaking, fishing, etc.). The town is fun with shops and restaurants. The area has become a lot more expensive over the years as it has been discovered by more people, and the town can have crowds (especially on the weekends). The grocery store is pretty small, and while they carry the basics, they don't have many specialty items. Be sure to pick up provisions in Gunnison on your way in if you prefer specific items or brands. The entire area is very dog-friendly, so be sure to bring your pooch on this trip!

Crested Butte is a nice place with a lot of beautiful drives, hikes, and bike trails. However, our friends went to the grocery store and they were out of almost everything. They didn't have any lunch meat, no bananas, and no fresh fruit. They need to restock more often. The grocery store is the only one in town and it isn't very well stocked. The free busses are very convenient to use, since downtown parking can be hard to find. Restaurants are very busy, and you need reservations in many of them.

Crested Butte is amazing to visit if you get the chance.

Crested Butte is amazing to visit if you get the chance. Because it's more of a commitment to get there (if you're coming from Denver etc), it's not as busy as other resort towns. The terrane is breath taking, winter or summer. - Secret Stash Pizza is a must visit - Camp 4 Coffee is a great cafe - Crested Butte Burger Co on the resort is super good and not $25 per burger - It's very easy to get around CB

The accommodations were very spacious, with two bedrooms and two baths, a well-equipped kitchen and a living room. It was a perfect size and layout for our party of two couples. The location is great; it's a two-minute walk to the two ski lifts at the base of the mountain and a comparably short walk to the transit center for free buses to Crested Butte and Gunnison. Our party enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, although temperature control was inconsistent and on certain nights the tub was unbearably hot.

Overall I was glad I stayed hear: comfortable, inviting, gracious and helpful staff, great location and reasonably priced. All the people who worked there were friendly and very helpful especially the two who worked at the front desk. One of them even cleared all the snow off my car for me! People obviously enjoy working there. I know a lot of hotels and BnBs that could learn a lot from this establishment. Oh yes, the lodging was extremely well priced.

Eight of us stayed in their chalet which had two queen beds on the entire upper floor and a queen bed and each two bedrooms downstairs it had an adequate kitchen small but nice living room. Breakfast served which came with the room was excellent. It was within 3-4 miles of downtown crested Butte and very close to Gothic Road where the most beautiful scenery in the world is. Also very pet friendly

Nice hotel just a bit outdated. We've been coming to CB for many, many years, just never stayed in a hotel on the mountain. It was late May, so place was deserted. During the winter, this would be perfect spot to stay. Even given that its a ski town, we felt it overpriced for the offseason. Good facilities in room, great Wifi, small & plain, but functional bathroom. Comfortable bed.

There was no breakfast. The facility was and is promoted as "slope side". It was not. A hotel room 150 yards from the lift at the base is not slope side. It false promotion one could consider fraud. Tell your potential renters it is a hotel room at the base. That would be honest. The price was fair for slope side, vastly overprices for a room at the base.
