Hotel Palacio Branka, hotel in Mundaka

The Hotel Palacio Branka is situated in a historic building in the heart of Mundaka, just 5 minutes from the beach. We tell the story of Mundaka.

We had a lovely stay at the Branka Hotel in Mundaka, the room was tiny, however all we needed - a table, chair, TV, closet and a very comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Breakfast at the bar downstairs was great, you can choose from multiple options, both sweet or salty. I would definitely stay again.

Apartamentos Mundaka, hotel in Mundaka

Situated in the pretty village of Mundaka, Apartamentos Mundaka is located beside Laidatxu Beach and just 25 km from Bilbao Airport. The property offers free WiFi and a shared, chill-out terrace.

We like the size of the flat with a queen bed and a small balcony with seaview (5/F). Very clean with a small kitchen. Check was easy thanks to the email for check in out of desk hours. Location was perfect too with restaurants/cafe/grocery closed to the flat. We also appreciated the elevator. Easy free parking down the street (available and free out of summer period). WiFi signal was good too. Easy check out in the morning. We were lucky enough with the weather and could enjoy our breakfast on the terrace.

    A real gem.

A real gem. Atmospheric little town perched on coast with great views of bay. Good beach, clean water. Coastal town walk, outdoor bar in little park. Lively place, families enjoying the atmosphere. Good train service to Bilbao and other worthwhile places.

    A great little town.

A great little town. We were there during summer and tour de france so we had a lot of options for things to do. Great beach, cute little fair type thing near the marina with rides for kids. We don't surf but it is very popular for that with more than one school.

Mundaka was a great place to visit, plenty of walks, different places to swim, friendly locals, good pintxos, food and great wine. Great bakery on the main road and a couple of little market shops and a bigger one up towards the station. Definitely get the train into Bermeo, very quick and efficient.

Mundaka is a small port town on the basque coast, and one feels this at every turn. You can walk across the town in 3 minutes, and the sleepy village comes alive at night with restaurants full and people enjoying views of the sea. The entire port area is beautiful, with a large park and an old church right on the water. This is the perfect spot for watching surfers when they are out on the waves. There are plenty of good restaurants in town, although many of them seemed to be closed for the season. We ate at one of the restaurants right next to the port. It was a good experience - good service and a great atmosphere, but the food was simply good. When I say good, I do, in fact, mean good. We had been traveling across the north of Spain for a few days and had had very good luck with our food choices, so our expectations had been unreasonably inflated. Overall, a great meal! I'd 100% recommend Mundaka to anyone looking for a moment to unwind and enjoy breathtaking views of the sea!

The apartment is built above a tidal area next to the church, so the location is incredible. Half the day, during high tide, you are living over the sea. The ocean view is stupendous and surfers have their own paddle out cove to access the world famous waves. We would have preferred softer pillows and some shower soap, and maybe a kettle to boil water. The host is very helpful, arrival instructions are clear, parking can be reserved for a fee. An excellent choice for surfers and those who want to experience the sea.

Mundaka is a beautiful Basque fishermans villa sitting on top of one of the world knarliest lefthander wave. When it's pumping you can watch the surfers take their beatings from the harbor wall. An unique sight.

The room is really modern, quiet and exceptionally clean and well presented. Has all the facilities for a great stay. One of the beat value places I have been on a surf trip. The staff are so helpful, Josu is an excellent host and made me feel very safe as a solo traveller and to help me navigate around Mundaka. Also great communication before arrival. Its location is excellent. Right in the middle of everything but still peaceful. Really great place!!

Hotel Atalaya was so charming, also the front desk person, also the town of Mundaka. The hotel was built in 1911 and retains its charm of the era - while having all the modern comforts for a stay. We loved the atmosphere of our room - soothing colors and seaside vibe. Breakfast was excellent. The free parking is a real bonus. Everything in Mundaka is walkable from Hotel Atalaya. We only wish we had been able to stay longer, and would love to return.

I loved the sea view, definitely worth the extra bit for that balcony overlook. The room was perfectly tidy, just like a higher end hotel here in the USA (but obviously much cheaper). The bathroom and all the small details were very well taken care of. And the host was incredibly attentive and responsive when I had some hiccups here and there. Thanks again for such a great visit! Definitely will be choosing again.

..a property of Hotel El Puerto..Jon as great..came over quickly to let us in..clean with beautiful wood floors..spacious with wrap around terrace..food reasonably priced at El Puert Hotel..it was very hard to find condo via Google maps which left us 300 meters away at train station. .suggest getting directions from highway from Jon. Beds were the most comfy in 3 weeks of travels.

Very central location with beautiful harbour views in an atmospheric small seaside town popular with serious surfers. The value of this hotel is primarily in its location. The bed and the room were comfortable, bathroom adequate and everything worked. The proprietor/manager was courteous and helpful. Would stay again.

Breathtaking views, comfortable beds, right in the town center and 200m from the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and the kindness of our host who arranged a late check out for us. Mundaka is just perfect for surfing but please mind the river might scare beginner surfers. Will come back :)

Good location on the edge of the village, easy to park (there is a parking spot that comes with the apartment, but you need to get the key first to get into it). I ended up just parking in a public parking space near the Mundaka hostel. Communicative hosts.

I liked the location and the building structure itself, and how they made it blend with the environment outside. Amazing view from the living room window! As the tide comes in, you will actually see the famous left-handed waves that Mundaka is known for.
