El Medano is a good sport for windsurfing, kiting and Wind foiling. Its is generally windy even during the winter months. The town is small enough to feel quite intimate and has a nice buzzing vibe. A great place to socialise after a day on the water. On less windy days there are options for biking, or generally keeping fit with running or walking. We ate out for breakfast and dinner and sampled a variety of cafes and restaurants in the town, mainly close to the main square. We enjoyed the food at all of them. They're not fancy but the prices are very reasonable.

Plus point if you're on a short trip is that it's very near the airport (taxi approx €20 with tip). Small town with plenty of bars and restaurants, also good supermarkets if you're self catering. There are several beaches, and there are walking trails to the hills nearby (which you can see from the seafront). The centre of town and the main beach get quite busy, but if you prefer it quieter you can walk along the seafront to less busy areas - fewer bars and facilities, but some lovely beaches within 20 min walk. We were there early March - temperature was low to mid 20s, mostly sunny, some patchy cloud. If you're into sailboarding there are places to hire equipment & have lessons. It's a laid back place - no nightclubs and not rowdy. In summary, a good place to come to relax and enjoy the sea and sun. If you want clubs, loads of activities etc, probably somewhere else would suit you better.

This is not your normal kind of tourist resort, its more Spanish and has a lot of locals with families which we liked. Has a very good water sport facility, if you are into this. Not many sun loungers are available on the beach which we liked, made it more natural. We mainly used hotel pool which was good for us. Beach and town was kept clean, with lots of dogs around, we were impressed. The nearby red mountain nature park area was very accessible and lovely to walk in, but you need good shoes.

Very nice town in the south of the island close to the airport. Everything is reached very nicely by car. The town offers a variety of really nice fish restaurants, supermarkets, bars, and even a few beaches in town or super close by. Perfect for a long or short stay - and even more perfect if you don't want to get a car, since it's super close to the airport (3 min drive) and has public transport.

We came here for for great windsurfing spot. Other than that it is a pretty boring place. Living is relatively inexpensive though. Public transportation is not bad, however there is no direct connection to anywhere. It is always necessary to change the bus at San Isidro.

El Medano is traditional Spanish beach village.

El Medano is traditional Spanish beach village. It is not a tourist hotspot and it has a very different feel to other areas of Tenerife. We enjoyed that aspect. There are still many restaurants and cafes to enjoy but not as many crowds.

Hello everyone, Ahavana is a great place to stay, On and Off I spent a month at the Ashavana hostel during my stay in Tenerife. I have to mention Denice, the hostel manager, she is always there to answer any question, she is fast, always smiling and so pleasant and cooperative wich made my stay in lovely El Medano even better. Also the girl Idai, who is making breakfast and do our rooms was so nice and helpful for any little thing that I need so, yes, I recommend to stay in Ashavana. Salute

The hotel was spotlessly clean. We had booked a junior suite but were upgraded to a larger one on arrival The views were to die for and the sun was on our balcony all day. We had a fantastic maid fabulous fabiosa from columbia. Lots of choice in the restuarant. The only downside was the wind. As its coastal its very windy but if youre into watersports then this is the place for you! I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone that wants a lovely quiet break.

This hostel was just a very short walk from the beach in El Medano, right in the heart of the restaurants and cafes, so not far from anything. The mattress was foam and comfortable. The set up for shower + toilet in a stall was convenient. Generally the place was very clean and had a nice little rooftop area with a sliver of a view on the sea. The staff was very helpful and accommodating with late arrival.

Perfect view of Red Mountain and we loved the sunset view of the water. Afternoon sun on the balcony was perfect for a relaxing beverage! Everything was very close - beach, restaurants, groceries, walking trails. Very relaxing two weeks. We spent the first week without a car. that was enough time to fully explore El Medano and the trails there. Second week with a car let us explore more of Tenerife.

casa grande had the friendliest and most welcoming atmosphere, which was amazing for a solo traveller. I loved it here so much that I came back a few times throughout my stay on Tenerife. Very social, often all playing music on the roof and having dinners together. The rooftop bar serves cheap drinks and often offers really good food. Will definitely be back!

We stayed for 1 night after a yoga retreat in the mountains. We couldn't have chosen a betyer hotel for us to end our stay in Tenerife. Amazing location at the end of the beach. On site restaurant was fabulous, albeit more expensive than the bars on the seafront. All the staff were lovely, fabulous breakfast, pool area is stunning.

The location is good - very close to cheap supermarket. Close to everything, but far enough from the center, so a crazy concert at the LENT was amazingly not audible at all. 10 minute walk to the South Bay. The apartment is well equipped (even with a washing machine!). The price was competitive.
