It’s stylish, beautiful simple scandinavian design. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff. Special thanks to a beautiful lady on a reception, who called a bus transport provider for me, and helped with the hotel pickup service.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Will stay here again when I travel to Reykjavik again.
Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

A lovely place easy to walk around. We hired a car and drove out most days. Very expensive to eat and drink out - take advantage of the happy hours ! We booked an apartment which helped as we had breakfast and made sandwiches each day. Roads are good to drive out on the Golden Circle Tour. Don't miss the 'free' places where you can go into the thermal pools/rivers.

We were there for 4 days. Such a lot to see.
We were there for 4 days. Such a lot to see. So different from other holidays. Many interesting things to see and learn about. You wont see anything similar anywhere else in the world. only a 2 hr flight for us from scotland, and well worth the trip. We had heard it was very expensive, but although about 30%-40% more expensive it wasnt as bad as we had anticipated. All guides and bus drivers were excellent and we didnt meet a single person who couldnt speak english fluently.Even managed to catch the celtic v rangers old firm game in a local pub . What else can you ask for. ? Would thoroughly recommend a trip to iceland.

This review is very much aimed at parents.
This review is very much aimed at parents. We couldn't do a lot of the famous activities due to having a little one but I still 100% recommend Iceland.
Reykjavik is an excellent place to visit for a small city break with a two year old. We were cautious but I am so glad we did it! I recommend getting an apartment over a hotel. It is slightly more expensive but well worth the investment.
Reykjavik is very pushchair friendly and most places allow children to eat for free. Just be careful which restaurants you choose as not all places cater for children.
If you are from the UK, budget for around £250 per day. It is expensive!
Places to eat:
For lunch/dinner - Brass Kitchen and Bar - Laugavegur 66, 101 (children's menu and really friendly)
I cannot remember the name but there is an Indian restaurant next door to the Bio Paradis on Hverfisgata 101. It is phenomenal! No children's menu so take snacks if you have a toddler.
For breakfast/lunch - Sandholt - Laugavegur 36, 101 (kids eat free)
Places to visit:
The Blue Lagoon! The hype is real, do it!
Lava Show
Puffin watching (we got to see a whale also!)

Really great vibes, cool and aesthetic cafes with world-class coffee and pastries. Astonishing views of mountains all around the city. For the best 'like-a-local' experience, make sure you visit the public pools - it is brilliant to soak in the warm water after a day of walking around the city!

Only a small city and easy to get round in a day.
Only a small city and easy to get round in a day. Excursions outside of the city that involve coach transport are, like everything else in Reykjavik, eye-wateringly expensive. The norm seems to be to hire a car which provides a signififcant cost saving. That's probably fine in the Summer but in February, when it's snowing heavily most of the time that isn't an attractive proposition. Make use of Happy Hour which runs from about 5pm to around 8pm. Beer prices are around half price then. Although that's still about £6.00 a pint. It is expensive but you know that before you go so there's no point moaning. 3 days was good, 4 would have been better. Choose a hotel as close to the centre as you can and one which is close to a collection/drop off point for coach transport if you don't fancy hiring a car. The buses have designated pick up points and if your accomodation isn't near one it can be a long walk. Use public transport for airport transfers (both ways) taxis are about £140.00 each way. The buses are approx £40.00. It's a brilliant and beautiful city, with friendly helpful locals. You might even see the Northern Lights. We didn't, due to the blizzards, but I'm assured they are there.
I've travelled the world and stayed in many hostels. Hostel B47 in the heart of Reykjavik center is absolutely among the best I've stayed in! In total I stayed there for 1,5 weeks - and I'd stay there any day again!
The owners and the staff are SUPER nice and they do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
In a hostel, I don't expect service at the same level as in a hotel but that's what you get when you stay at Hostel B47.
To me, Hostel B47 was a home away from home. I loved it there!
Apart from the fact that we were rushed at breakfast, it was one of the best we've had in Iceland. But I did not expect anything less from a Hilton Hotel. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, the room very spacious and quiet. Big parking lot. We wanted to explore Reykjavik and go to the Sky Lagoon, the city center was only 5 minutes and the Sky Lagoon around 10 minutes away by car, which was very convenient. Also it was a good starting point for the Golden circle. Overall a very nice stay.
We loved our stay at Eyja Guldsmeden. We stayed here the night before traveling back home and were very pleased with the hotel, our room, and how conveniently located it is to downtown. The lobby was very welcoming and well decorated. We didn't have the time to try breakfast because of our schedule, but we loved all the details the hotel had, including the bathroom product. Great place to stay. We totally recommend it!
the receptionist was so helpful with our early-checking. Also, the early checking gave us access to the breakfast that I must say it was one of the best breakfasts in hotels I had. The breakfast doesn't have too much variety but the quality of the food it's unmatched (the pastries were delicious) . The room was ok. the location is unbeatable. Right at the center of Reykjavik, just 2 minutes walking to rainbow street.
The location is great. The guesthouse is a short walk from downtown Reykjavik. I selected this location for the price and proximity to the local airport. It was very satisfactory for those aspects. I was able to walk to the airport for an early flight (approx. 40 min walk). The room was very simple, but met my needs for a place to stay the night. The self check-in instructions were also very clear and reliable.
The room was perfect and location was great! Room had an espresso machine, comfy bed, two windows, heat, a TV, and they provided converters for US plugs which none of the other places I stayed in Iceland had. It was easy to walk to downtown Reykjavik from the guesthouse, but far enough out of the main drag that there was always parking in front. The bathroom was modern and comfy bathrobes were a nice touch.
This hotel was fantastic! Large room, plenty of outlets and luggage bench for two suitcases.. Only Iceland lodging we've stayed at that has had washcloths and kleenex. No refrigerator, but the staff gladly kept our food in their refrigerator. Great breakfast. Parking available right outside the hotel and short walk to main street in downtown Reykjavik. Requested mountain view was great.
I recommend this hotel in the center of reykjavik. There is a bus stop 3 in front and the city hall bus stop 1 is 5 minutes walking distance it was perfect for the pick up for my excursions. What i appreciate, when i did my booking, i wrote a resquest they replied me we did our best if it is possible and they did it. It was very nice to be consider not as a simple tourist, they take care.
Location was phenomenal, right in the middle of the downtown core. Note this means parking will not be on site, but it wasn’t difficult to find street parking.
Amenities included a nice Nespresso setup and one of the best hotel showers I’ve ever experienced (two heads, amazing pressure). Bedding was very comfortable and the rooms were quiet.
I spent the second night in this hotel , before leaving Reykjavik. I must say it's the best solution for a budget stay in Reykjavik, even though it's not so cheap. It's a really central location, easy to reach all the best parts of Reykjavik. The rooms are spacious and clean so if you are lucky to book room in this hotel you will enjoy
The hotel is in good location near the city center. In 5 minutes by car you are downtown. Plenty of parking, clean, comfortable, nice rooms but the best part is the owner. Amazing woman that put her heart into what she is doing. Very helpful and sweet. Plus we got a free upgrade on arrival. Thanks Maria...
The hotel is very clean and the staff are extremely helpful. Breakfast is available every morning. The location of the property is amazing and close to everything in downtown Reykjavik, it is in the vicinity of all the local bus stops for any excursions.
It is in the downtown, I liked the kitchen and the restaurant downstairs, also the Reservation Manager understood that we were very tired due to long travel, so allowed early check in that I liked very much, it is also cheaper than another hotels
CenterHotel Plaza had an excellent location right in downtown Reykjavik, close to Bus Stop 1 where a lot of tours and the airport FlyBus depart from. Rooms are sufficient and clean, brightly lit and right on top of a lively square.
Grand Hotel is located on the edge of Reykjavik which is good for departing the city, but if you want to be right downtown then it's a good 30min walk. There is a free transport service every hour during the day which is perfect.
property is in a great location! right downtown Reykjavik. my husband and I were able to park our car at the car park across the street and then walk everywhere for the two days. was a very clean hotel and staff were friendly.
I really liked this hotel.. in middle of the downtown it’s really good place to stay in even the reception are amazing and they will help you in every thing that you want to know about or even as a service.. highly recommended
Basic room, very warm with all necessary to stay for a short break to visit Reykjavik, just in the town centre.
may need bit of renovation as furniture look cheap and basic, but everything was functional.
