Lovely little cottage, plenty of room for us 4. The master room bed was lovely and comfy, it was lovely and cool inside despite very hot weather outside. Great little bathroom and kitchen.

Lovingly renovated and cared-for, family-run property in quiet, countryside location, near to the historical town of Dumfries. Room spacious and tastefully furnished, as is the guest lounge. Very good breakfast and dinner options in fabulous dining rooms. Thank you to Janice, George I and George II, for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended.

Friendly town, lovely meal in the Queensferryand Buccleuch Hotel, and excellent Chinese takeaway too. There were loads of cafes and a couple of independent shops, and well stocked Co op and Spar. Had a good walk in the grounds at nearby Drumlanrig Castle.

Lovely location for exploring south west Scotland. Very close to Drumlanrig Castle amazing country walks and spectacular castle. Went to the beach at Carse which was great for dog walks. Thornhill itself had a lovely local pub with good valued food. Local bakery and butchers plus Co-op and Spar.

Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.”
Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.” This is what a local said to me. The scenery is beautiful with the rolling hills and the farmers fields. The village itself is quaint with impressive looking buildings.

Thornhill is a really quiet place but its in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas and makes a change from the overcrowded Lake District. Having said that there are very few other options in the town for eating and drinking.
It was the best night away I've had in a while - something different and definitely worth it! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, far comfier than I've ever had staying in a hotel! I loved the decor and getting up in the morning to birds singing and the most wonderful view definitely topped it off. Zoe and Tony were a lovely couple and very welcoming. We will be staying again!
Two girls seemed to be running the hotel on their own. Everything was late or missing albeit not their fault, they simply did not have enough hands to do everything necessary. Instant hot water was bliss but no toiletries. Coffee was nice at breakfast but everything else looked and tasted like yesterday's leftovers.
Really enjoyed our stay in the Deluxe Suite, which was a perfect set up for us and our dogs. The staff were all great and the hotel itself has a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere which we thoroughly appreciated. We ate at the hotel for breakfast (included in price) and evening meals which were of a high standard.
Very convenient holiday home: light and spacious and ideally located in the middle of a region with lots of things to do and see. The village of Thornhill is well equipped with small supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and even a coffee bar although the general atmosphere is average.
Lovely cosy cottage to spend Christmas with my husband. Well equipped kitchen and we loved the log burner. Bed very big and comfortable. Within good commuting distance of Dumfries for food shopping. Would highly recommend booking a stay here.
had a lovely stay & Elizabeth was superb host & made sure all was satsfactory. The period house is very comfortable & spacious with quiet relaxed atmosphere....very different from the city hotels & stopovers :)
Lovely location for walking or cycling. A few miles away is Thornhill which has some lovely eating places. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the property is very clean and well equipped.
Great area for walking and sightseeing. Plenty of cafe’s with good food. Can recommend Jinty’ b’s in Thornhill and Kilnford Farm shop near Dumfries. Very pet friendly cottage.
We enjoy the peacefulness of the location, with no main roads nearby, lots of wildlife, and country walks. It is close to Thornhill so you can visit this town.
Fabulous hotel! Very clean, great location, comfortable and staff were very friendly. Rooms are spacious and warm, and the en suite modern and large. Superb!!
