The taste of India was lovely, I enjoyed a lovely curry after my walk around Rutland water. The petrol station right next door was handy too. All in all, a pleasant stay, easy to find close to local amenities, and a fair price 👌

The Barnsdale, Rutland, hotel in Morcott

Nestled close to the shores of Rutland Water, just 5 minutes’ drive from Oakham and a 50-minute drive from Leicester.

Friendly staff and clean accommodation. The shower was over the bath and not easy to access if you have back problems as we do. If we had been staying longer we would have requested an opportunity to change rooms. My wife has a dairy sensitivity and this was well catered for until our final meal. We both chose a fish dish and the dip for my wife was supposed to be dairy free. We believe the 2 plates were confused by the member of staff when served. Although she had only a taste, we were wary and it was left. The hotel was in beautiful grounds and a beautiful area for a holiday.

nice view around hotel but shown to terrible room facing a wall out of window. Very depressing and dark, asked to be moved, So moved to the attic better room, But small bed and a lot of steps, all corridors very dark. Evening meal terrible over priced. We expected a lot more because it was an expensive hotel. We thought about just going home.

Liked the bathroom, the towels, the comfy bed and the convenience of its location - near Rutland Water. Friendly staff. I didn't like having to eat breakfast sitting on the bed! It was advertised as 'with breakfast' but when we arrived realised it was only cereal/yoghourt/milk/orange juice left in the room - no where to sit to eat it! Restaurant was ok, nice meal, although a little expensive and they had run out of a lot of the choices including ALL desserts because the hotel had been full the night before.

We enjoyed staying at Morcott as it was ideal for our visit to Stamford. We found the apartment excellent although extremely warm, but it was a very warm weekend. We enjoyed a meal after our arrival, but when trying for an evening meal on the Sunday and breakfast on the Monday the restaurant was closed. We just left the key in the apartment door as there was no one to speak to.

    The scenery is best,

The scenery is best, The rooms are far too hot it is like having the heating on. As the only light/ entrance is via patio styles doors this is the only air through and you cant sleep with your doors wide open.
