Kings Head by Chef & Brewer Collection, hotel in Masham

Overlooking the Market Square in the small town of Masham, this charming inn is set within a fine Georgian building of tremendous character, built in the second half of the 18th century.

Breakfast - excellent, good choices It's a Greene King Pub, so typical evening pub fayre, do book a table before you get there because there's limited options in town and if one kitchen is not operating in the town and it's a busy weekend, you may find yourself without food. Staff were really helpful as we had an issue with the evening meal and they were quick to fix it. Location right on the market place with a choice of 4 pubs within a 5 min walk all serving craft beer, car parking is £1. Walking distance to both the Black Sheep brewery and Theakstons. Would stay again.

Swinton Park, hotel in Masham

An exclusive 42-bedroom luxury castle hotel. With 4 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes awarded by the AA for excellent facilities, this is the highest rated hotel in Yorkshire.

We loved walking the extensive grounds and appreciated the size of our room. Our bathroom alone was the size of some hotel rooms. The port tasting was fun. The highlight was the owl and hawk experience, which was beyond fabulous. The place has a great and very accommodating staff.

Morton House 4brm and Stable Block 3brm in Masham - 2-15 guests, hotel in Masham

With fresh and elegant interiors, this 17th-century Grade II listed farmhouse and stable block is just off the market square of sleepy Masham.

The location of the property was absolutely perfect for the quiet, remote getaway we wanted. The small grassy garden was a perfect sun trap for all day lounging in the sun.

Black Swan Inn, hotel in Masham

Nestled beside the Yorkshire Dales, this 17th-century pub is surrounded by stunning countryside.

Superb location with a view over the Vale of York to the North Yorkshire Moors on a good day. The room was spacious and the bed really comfortable. We had four nights of excellent sleep. The staff and other guests were all friendly and we enjoyed all our breakfasts and dinners. A highlight was listening to the curlews calling in the village and on the walks recommended by the staff. Coming from York, it was delightful to see swallows and swifts, goldfinches and thrushes and so many hares.

Lavender Cottage, Masham, Historic Listed, 2 bedrooms, hotel in Masham

Set in Masham, the recently renovated Lavender Cottage, Masham, Historic Listed, 2 bedrooms offers accommodation 10 km from Lightwater Valley Theme Park and 25 km from Ripley Castle.

We loved the communication and easy access to the property. Cottage and furnishings were cute and cosy. Bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Kitchen well equipped, toiletries and towels were provided. Bedding and bathroom very clean. It got quite chilly in the evening, but heating was available and easy to operate. Masham is a lovely little town with gorgeous surrounding countryside. It offers easy access to Ripon, Harrogate, N Yorks etc.

Masham is a lovely little town with a market square, several pubs and a couple of cafes. Oh, and a brilliant fish and chip shop We fancied The Kings Head to eat on the Friday night but it was fully booked, annoying but a good sign! So we ate at our accommodation The Bay Horse and it was very good, steak and ale pie, and venison casserole with mash. Our Bay Horse bedroom (Swale) was quite quirkily furnished, definitely not in the standard Travelodge type mould. Lovely comfy bed and view out onto the town.

Masham town square is lovely to visit. Nice friendly people. We had our dogs with us and the surrounding areas where stunning to walk. Visited Hackfall Woodland Trust. Walks mapped out showing different lengths, for different strengths. Just beautiful. Clean. Quiet. We were lucky with parking.

It's a quiet, pretty, historic little market town which has a small market twice per week on the big central market place. It has two famous breweries so the local ales are first class however, rather paradoxically, places to eat in the evening, especially on Mondays, are very limited, which is a shame. There is an artisan glass works and oddly a fossil shop. It is very near (walkable) the the luxurious and curious Swinton Estate which has hotel, spar, famous shooting school, fly fishing school, golf and more.

Stayed here while I attended an art workshop nearby.

Stayed here while I attended an art workshop nearby. Husband came too and we arranged to stay in a dog friendly hotel,of which there are several. He went walking with the dogs while I was at said workshop. Large central market place with plenty of parking, honesty box system. The buildings all around the town are attractive, with some age and sporting climbing roses and other herbage. A lovely feel pervades. Clearly popular with local drinkers and diners at w/e’s. Not noisy though. People very friendly.

Masham is a lovely small town/large village.

Masham is a lovely small town/large village. Great pubs with good food, a brilliant fish and chip shop. A large square in the centre with a market on Saturday. Lots of walking routes nearby. Two breweries, both with pub/eateries nearby. Although the week after our visit the Black Sheep brewery announced it was going into administration. I hope that gets sorted out and it continues to trade. Masham has the typical feel of a foot of the dales town. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quintessentially English break.

Lovely, tucked away, clean welcoming property, comfiest bed EVER! Lots of little extras left for guests, thank you! Very short stroll into town, easy to park up and leave the car for the weekend. Great comms with the hosts. Tip to next guests, if eating Sunday lunch, The Bruce Arms Yorkshire pudds are to die for, Kings Head's are sad soft frozen Aunt Bessie's type. Recommend the 2 brewery trips, walking along the river, and The Border House Cafe. Looking forward to staying again :)

Warm and very clean on arrival. Complimentary tea, coffee & milk in the fridge (and a Black Sheep beer which was a lovely touch). Plenty of lovely local walks on the doorstep and near to a Co-op for essentials. Enjoyed an evening meal at The Bay Horse-great food & service. Very helpful host with good communication. We left something behind which Andrew very kindly posted onto us. Look forward to returning & would definitely recommend!

The hotel and location were beautiful. But what made our stay special was friendly staff, especially a breakfast lady. It was really nice to be well looked after and that made our stay special. Also Masham is truly charming with lots and lots to offer for a holiday. There are lots of little businesses and Saturday market with beautiful things on offer. The walks from Masham lead you to peaceful and charming countryside.

Perfect accommodation for our family ! Appreciated the welcome touches on arrival ! Stunning views in peaceful location enhanced by beautiful weather . Our Grandchildren age 5 and 19 months loved the space to play safely ! Enjoyed local walks and a booking at Studfold adventure trail in nearby Lofthouse but didn’t really need to seek entertainment ! The hens and animals provided just that ! Thankyou Helen and Andrew

The host provided plenty of information and access to the key was nice and simple. It was a convenient location and had we planned ahead we would have enjoyed the nearby hotel for a meal. Internet connectivity was surprisingly good and BT TV gave us enough entertainment. The apartment was comfortable and the kitchen well provided for.

My wife and I stayed at The Bay Horse for one night, having enjoyed a previous visit in 2022. Checking in was easy. The room was spacious, clean and great value for money. The Bay Horse overlooks Masham Square so there is excellent access to the surrounding village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

A fabulous location near the Dales and a super team in the pub. Food was excellent (breakfast & dinner). Travellers should note that nearly everything is closed on Sunday in Masham and food is only available in a couple of places early in the week. A highly recommended destination.
