Good breakfast, friendly and attentive staff. Cozy dining hall with a fireplace. Quiet unlike the rest of the hotels in Castle Douglas with their loud pubs.

The views from this little hotel are beautiful, we had a very relaxing stay. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful and the food we had in the evening was very tasty and well presented, if we needed anything there was always somebody about to serve any drinks. The breakfast was also delicious.
We would definitely stay again.

The only positive thing you can say about Castle Douglas is that it is a convenient place from which you can travel and explore Dumfries and Galloway.
I spent one day watching the red kites feeding at Bellymack Hill Farm, and the day I left I took the opportunity to travel to the Mull of Galloway because I was relatively close to it.
Don't plan to stay in Castle Douglas in order to explore the town itself, there is nothing to see.

A lovely little town with plenty of shops which appealed to the wife. The natives were friendly and we enjoyed the banter. For the fellows don't miss the brewery at the bottom of town, Great tap, some great beers. Came home within lots of meat from each of the butchers shops.

Castle Douglas is a favourite place where we spend some time on any trip which demands a stop off to take advantage of the independent retail stores. We know staff are friendly and cheerful, don't hassle customers and always give a warm welcome.
After some shopping there is quite a number of places to stop for coffee and cake or even a more substantial meal.

Castle Douglas is a very nice little town, with many nice old shops. A great place for a day away.
The town is very clean and the people are friendly
It is in the right location for travelling around SW Scotland and seeing what is there
Lovely room which was modern, clean and had everything we needed.
Staff were fabulous, making us feel very welcome by taking the time to chat with us.
Loved that it was dog friendly accommodation. The staff went out of their way to make a fuss of everyone’s dog.
We had our evening meal at the hotel, the choice of food and quality was great and the breakfast is just as good.
The location in the farmland was beautiful. Walks in the green fields with many sheep and cows. The accommodation was comfortable, good bed, quiet, sunny sitting room looking out over the hills. Walks on the coast are easily accessible and there are a number of good restaurants in Castle Douglas. We appreciated the hospitality of Irene, who was taking care of the guests.
- the staff were fantastic and obviously care about the community and visitors. locals in the pubs below were great people to talk to as well. breakfast was accommodating and delicious. we all really enjoyed our time in Castle Douglas. Rooms aren’t exactly modern, but I don’t think that should be a problem for anyone, accommodations are more than adequate.
Stunning location on the edge of Galloway Forest Park, with incredible wildlife to be seen just in the garden (countless birds, rabbits, even a fox!). Great base for exploring the surrounding hills, coastline and towns. Rachael and Matt were super friendly and gave us a little tour of the area around the house when we arrived. Would love to go back!
High-quality appliances and furnishings. Lovely standard of decoration. Personal attention from host by text message. Welcome basket and Easter eggs hidden around the property was a nice touch. Good location in Castle Douglas and easily available parking directly outside.
In Castle Douglas High street above a busy pub and could have been noisy but the bar below the rooms was shut at 10pm and it was actually very quiet. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were friendly. A good place to stay for a few nights if you visit the area.
We had a wonderful welcome from Gillian and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her spacious, comfortable, all-amenities flat. Location was also perfect for everything the town had to offer, especially Gillian's InHouse cafe and chocolate factory downstairs.
Secure fenced area for dogs and children.
Beautiful view of countryside and horses.
Ideal location close to Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of fleet, so plenty of options for dinner.
TV with Wii console to keep kids entertained if it's raining.
A great place to stay in the centre of Castle Douglas. Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely food and a good selection of drinks.
We had a nice comfortable room that was very clean and a little larger than many standard hotel rooms which was a bonus.
Lovely place to stay, comfortable and clean with everything we needed. The welcome pack was tasty and our dog loved the excellent outdoor space. The cottage was well located close to Castle Douglas and in a beautiful setting.
Friendly, helpful owner. Well maintained, nice room and en-suite. Breakfast room was lovely, excellent breakfast. Although I know the area quite well, this was my first stay in Castle Douglas which I really enjoyed.
Made to feel inferior by waitress who said our room option meant we could not choose from residents breakfast menu despite my argument that, like everyone around us in the restaurant, we are still hotel residents!!
The owner is passionate about wildlife and really interesting to talk to. If you want a no-frills, quiet, youth-hostel vibe this might suit you. Right beside Threave gardens about a mile from Castle Douglas.
Good breakfast, location poor. Advertised as Castle Douglas and it isn't it is in Crossmichael which was disappointing as we specifically wanted to stay in Castle Douglas.
We liked the location of the hotel, staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The food was delicious and fresh. There was a nice atmosphere in the hotel.
