Lovely family home stay where we were looked after by the hosts. Excellent Japanese breakfast served, and we loved the on site onsen for bathing.

The accommodation is lovely, with spacious rooms, comfy tatami beds, and traditional pyjamas provided. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is excellent. There's an onsen onsite and other options nearby. An excellent dinner is available at a reasonable price. Also, Tommy's Burger is across the street.
I read that some people commented on the location not being good. I'm not too sure what they were expecting. It's only a 15-10 minute walk from the ski field, and some equipment providers let you store your gear at the base, so it's a pretty easy walk.
I highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay there again.

Well laid out, very functional, nice and roomy with everything we needed. Great location with easy walk to slopes, ski almost to door, easy walk to town but the best thing was being next door to the public onsen

The receptionist Miyuki was very attentive, she asks all relevant questions and answers all of our tourists last minute questions. Despite just staying for one night, Tanuki has left a long lasting memory for me and my wife, we can’t wait for our next holiday with Tanuiki

Location is a short 5-10 minute walk into the main part of town. Super comfy quilts. We were there in February so naturally a cold time of year. They had lots of heaters thankfully, but once turned off, the house got cold very quickly again. They arranged parking for us close by for a good price.
The cosy Chitosekan is 750 metres from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort and features a hot-spring bath and Japanese meals.

A lovely traditional Ryokan right in the middle of Nozawa main village a short walk from to the Yu-Road escalator which takes you straight up to the ski area. The hosts are lovely people and the traditional breakfast was delicious. It also has it's own onsen.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, there was breakfast in the morning which had a decent selection such as rice, eggs, juice, coffee, toast and cereal. The beds were very comfortable and it was awesome to use the dryer after a day in the snow.

Nozawa Onsen was readily accessible by fast train and a bus.
The Village had good amenities including a variety of eating venues.
A free shuttle bus went around the town and to the ski fields every 15 minutes. The ease between getting between the Village, ski fields and accommodation was exceptional. There was even a travellator for going up to the snow and back to the town. The snowfall was excellent particularly as our visit was late in the season in mid March.

Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely.
Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts.
Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return!
Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese.
Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese. Those owned by foreigners are often over-priced with inferior service....sure you might get to speak English, but stay home if that's important...;)

Amazing and cute little village!
Amazing and cute little village! Ski hill is great too (needs a bit more English signage). Be sure to book any of the nicer/better restaurants way in advance! These book out quickly (Aussies book these places out!)

An amazing and authentic Japanese experience.
An amazing and authentic Japanese experience. The rooms were brilliant and the Onsen was next level luxury. Made the whole ski experience a pleasure being just a short stroll from the Yu road travellator access. Highly recommend it
Had an exceptional experience at Nozawa Onsen, the owners went above and beyond to accommodate us while we were there. They helped us with gear hire, lift passes and restaurant recommendations. With the pictures of the beds being on the floor, I thought they would be quiet hard but they were extremely confortable - i had the best nights sleep! The location was right off one of the runs, making it an easy downhill walk home after a long day on the slopes. Honestly couldn't recommend Nozawa Peaks enough.
Our family loved this house. Great location in town, onsen right across the street. A super nice 500 yen onsen 5 minute walk.
We were a family of 5 with an elderly 88 grandmother who had the downstairs bedroom and upstairs there were 2 bedrooms. Yuki our host was great! Our sons went snowboarding and Yuki got them set up with the gear and they stored each day up the by lift. They have the best powder skiing ever! Such a great experience. Mahalo to Yuki-san.
I loved everything about my stay here at this cozy dorm . From the private Onsen to the kind hospitality, this place exceeded my expectations. Also, I highly recommended paying the extra fee for the breakfast, it was absolutely delicious. This was the first time my husband and I opted to stay in a dorm type of hotel with shared bathrooms and a common area for everyone to use. I would definitely stay here again .
After scratching around for a very last minute stay in Nozawa Onsen, a vacancy at Uchihan popped up. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The owner was extremely friendly, bath houses and restaurants just around the corner and an easy 2 minute walk to the Karasawa lift. A simple, clean, affordable and extremely well situated property to the ski fields and town centre. Will certainly be back!
We had a wonderful stay at Hahnenkamm. The ski-in-ski-out location was brilliant and the staff were lovely. The staff were particularly helpful with logistics related to luggage and ski gear, and the over-snow transfers from the Nozawa Onsen Liner bus stop were seamless. The breakfast was very decent and the dinner was exceptional. A cheap ski wax service on site was a great perk.
We love everything about this property! Our host is lovely and greeted us with local apples! The location is perfect for restaurants and onsens after skiing all day. The shower room is amazing!! Also, a washer and dryer which is so helpful with ski clothes. Nozawa Onsen is my favorite part of Japan. We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful visit!!!
Absolutely love Address Nozawa. The room was so nice and cosy! Love that we can sit or lay by the window. We hung out at the dining table every day. The room is like a tatami room with bed and the pillows were so comfortable! Also love that the use of washing machine and dryer is free! Great place to stay if you are skiing / snowboarding at Nozawa Ski Resort.
The gorgeous family that run this lodge could not have been more helpful.
The facilities are excellent. We had a three person traditional room. It was spacious comfortable and warm.
The lodge is in a central location to the slopes and fabulous restaurants and bars.
The breakfast was exceptional.
We will stay again when coming back to Nozawa Onsen.
Really enjoyed my stay.
Super friendly and homely staff, who provided really good service even with little English. I felt like I was homed with a traditional Japanese family.
Food for breakfast is great, good selection and very tasty.
Good location to shops and slopes.
Hotel has good onsen.
The location was centralized to many tourist attractions, restaurants, and onsens. Very kind, courteous, and accommodating family owned establishment. A different breakfast spread each morning, equally delicious each day. Our stay at Nozawa Onsen was amazing, in large part to our stay at Togoro.
I really enjoyed my stay in Kadowakikan in Japanese tradional ryokan room. I felt very welcome by the host and was always greeted with such nice hospitality. The host gave us good tips to do in nozawaonsen and also a lift to bus station when we check-out.
I had an excellent time at Snow Palace Nozawa Onsen, the friendliness of the staff who went above and beyond made my experience so remarkable. I’ll definitely recommend to everyone I know and would come back in heartbeat.
Many Japanese and foreigners who can also speak English work on the staff, which I found convenient for foreigners. There is a ski resort nearby and many fancy restaurants where we could enjoy drinking at night.
The breakfast was great - hot and ample and the location of the hotel perfect, just beside the Nagasaki gondola base station. The men's bathroom was generally empty so easy to enjoy the bathing experience.
Room and shared areas (bathroom, shower room) were clean.
There is a room to leave your ski gears.
The hotel is closed from the free shuttle bus bringing to the ski resort entrance.
