We stayed in OLD SAN JUAN and it was great. If you enjoy history and the origin of the Caribbean colonialism and cultures San Juan is treasure trove of information. The two main forts established over 600 are very impressive and well kept by the National Park Service. The “old San Juan” historic area has many quaint streets and restaurants. I loved how friendly mostly everyone in san juan was . Personally it was hard for me to find food i liked but there are plenty of food options ! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that great when i came so i couldn’t do many excursions but none the less i had a great and fun time ! I lived on the condado for 5 years from 1972-1977, while my Dad was stationed in Old San Juan. It was exactly how I remembered it, beautiful people, beautiful weather, beautiful city, beautiful beaches... but just a little more built up. I've been to Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, and the Bahamas (more than once) and they are all beautiful! But San Juan/PR in general has so much more to offer with regards to history, tours, adventure, shopping, or relaxation for ALL ages!!

Old San Juan is beautiful; however, over run with tourist. We were warned of "creative driving" -- yup, have to agree. Finding parking is near impossible. Streets are narrow. Found some great beaches. Delicious seafood.

Highlight of my stay at Hotel de Mar was being able to get a good walk on the beach across the street before getting a connecting flight the next day. I would return to this location. I did not need to get a meal and brought my own food for breakfast. I might avoid arriving in the dark next time late at night, but that is when my flight arrived and I found Hotel de Mar to be a wonderful place to stay.SusanUnited States

Breakfast was nice. They had a buffet set up with scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, cereals, fruit and bread/toast. There was an omelette station as well. Coffee & tea self serve was actually really good. Shower in the room was nice. Good shower, shampoo and body wash products. Nice that the room came with a mini fridge and a microwave. The hotel has a free shuttle to old town (more about that in the next section…)

We stayed there for 3 nights and did a lot of walking around and chilling at the balcony, balcony! Even getting Uber from the apartment was very easy and cheap. Marny, the host, was such a warm and kind person and she took our bags as we came early and gave us an early check-in and late check-out at no costs! Amazing! I felt really relaxed throughout. Definitely one of the best stays we’ve had in our many travels.

We were able to return our rental car and just walk over to the hotel and in the morning just walk right into the airport and check into our flight. All very trouble free.
