The location was pretty central, only 20 minute walk to main areas ie fisherman’s wharf, Alcatraz tours, union square. Facilities were amazing gym was very good. Originally was placed in a room that backed into the elevator which was incredibly noisy, I asked staff if it was possible to be moved and they immediately gave us a new room further away we were very impressed with the service.
Originally established in 1906, the elegant Nob Hill Hotel features marble flooring, ornate ceilings and an extensive collection of period paintings in the hotel interior.

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.
Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.
In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.
Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.
As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.
Wonderful city and I shall return. Great mix of ages, ethnicities, cultures, and all inclusive to whom ever you are wherever I visited. Easy to get around the city and its surroundings. Lots to do and see. Amazing foods.

Since the homeless were hustled out of the City to make it...
Since the homeless were hustled out of the City to make it look good for the Chinese visitors a while ago, it's not as bad as it was but still not great. However, there are still many car break-ins happening and are warned by the hotels to not leave anything in your car. The DeYoung Museum, The Academy of Sciences, Golden Gate Park, Japantown, China Town, The Momo and the wharfs are all favorite places to visit. Getting around is very slow due to traffic and parking is expensive. When you leave the City, do not attempt it past 2:30PM as traffic is barely creeping. I suggest taking Lift or Uber around the City during your stay, they are everywhere and inexpensive. We always eat in Japantown, restaurants in the Filmore District, and just outside of Golden Gate Park. Enjoy the City as there is a lot to experience.

We stayed in union Square area and it was a 5 minute walk from the Powel station bart. The area felt safe and clean, we stayed away from the Tenderloin. Taking the cable cars to peir 39 was fun, so many great places to eat seafood and visit the shops, we saw an improvement in panhandling and streets were clean we are already planning our next visit. We recommend eating at the Sears restaraunt and Lori's 50's diner, the Matador for Mexican food, and The Chancellor Hotel was excellent.

Actually a great city for tourism.
Actually a great city for tourism. But lately too many homeless in the street / people who using drugs or smoke marijuana in some location really make a not so comfortable experience.. The government should do something about it.

I love San Francisco for the convenience of walking around...
I love San Francisco for the convenience of walking around and having plenty to do all day. They have plenty of beautiful parks and locations to enjoy the views and sights of San Francisco. There are so many museums and attractions, and so much to learn about the area and it’s cultures and environment. This visit San Francisco looked and felt so much cleaner than a year ago that I visited. My family walked to many places feeling safe.
Hotel is within a five minutes walk to Union Square so well positioned to enjoy tourist attractions. The rooms are clean and spacious with all necessary facilities. The room had access to coffee with a large fridge.
The stay is comfortable with plenty of space.
The breakfast was adequate for our needs and set us up for the day. A few extra breakfast options would be nice but it was good enough.
The hotel security was good and we were allowed to store our luggage after checking out which meant we had more time in San Francisco to explore.
The hotel is very good for the price. We were very satisfied because all the hotels in SF are extremely expensive. We live in the bay area of San Francisco so we knew the neighborhood and were aware that it's a neighborhood with a lot of homeless people. So we went into the hotel aware of this negative point. But it didn't bother us during our stay. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, very well decorated, small but very suitable for us!
We really loved this hotel, it was decorated in a very original way. We had a fireplace in our bedroom, also at the resting area were you can have breakfast -included in the room price- and wine in the afternoon. Staff was very nice, specially Braulio, he helped us a lot with great tips to go around the best areas in San Francisco. We also loved this city, people was so happy and kind. We would definitely return and stay here again.
Location is amazing. A street car stop right outside our hotel was perfect. Union Square is full of designer shops and has amazing lighting at night. A great central point to visit all of San Francisco. Most welcoming hotel ever. Free homemade cookies (oh lord!!!), coffee, fruit, sweets and pop corn. A half price drink at the bar on arrival. Just wonderful. An excellent spirts bar just 2 doors away. Perfect.
this hotel is 12/10 easily. the location is perfect with walkable distance to china town and union square. they give you free breakfast which is super nice. And to top that off we got free drinks (as many as we want) on their top floor bar for free!!
i would definitely recommend this hotel. the staffs are very friendly and helpful too. i’d definitely stay at this hotel if i’m in bay area again.
Location is just so convenient. Close to union square. Supernarket pharmacy and other restaurants are around.
Rooms are spacious compared to other hotels in town.
All attractions of san francisco are just few minutes away in car and some are within walking distance
The refreshing iced water at the lobby is tasty
Staff are all so nice and helpful.
- Location: Just a small walk to Union Square. So it's the hotel best for the location.
- House Keeping: The Asian janitor we met in the elevator while check-in was very jolly and gave us many good recommendations on where to go and eat. We met him during the checkout too and thanked him.
- They arranged a coffee maker for us in the room.
The hotel is very conveniently located in downtown SF, as it close to Union Square and is 100 m away from the Powell Metro station from which the airports (I flew to/from SFO, but this is true also for OAK) can be easily reached. The room was small, but comfortable. There is no breakfast service, but coffè is available in the morning.
It's a beautiful property with wonderful staff. And dogs! The location was great....close to Union Square, good shopping, and Swan Oyster Depot (my favorite restaurant). Lots of options around the hotel to hop on BART and explore other areas of the city too!
The Naked Experience is the icing on the cake! Best hotel beds EVER!
We loved this boutique hotel. The staff was very pleasant, always had a smile on their face. The corner room had fantastic views and very comfortable beds. The Top of the Mark was incredible. Took the cable car down to Union Square which was nearby and very festive. We love you Mark Hopkins hotel & San Francisco!
THE HOTEL WAS MORE ELEGANT THAT EXPECTED. STAFF WERE TERRIFIC!
THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FRENCH RESTAURANTS AND CAFES IN THE AREA OF SAN FRANCISCO.
ALSO, VERY CLOSE TO UNION SQUARE, AND AT CHRISTMAS TIME, THAT IS WHERE WE WANTED TO BE FOR THE SITES AT THE SQUARE AND THE SHOPPING
Great hotel, with perfect location in Union Square. So close to shops and various transport options. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area is intimate and a great extra. I appreciated the added extras the hotel provided and the value of the stay.
Lily the receptionist was the most amazing person we've met! She helped us a lot with organizing our trip in San Francisco and South California, gave us lots of todos and tips.
Hotel is clean, great value for money and perfect location, a block from Union square.
The location is great, very close to the Union Square.
The staff is friendly.
They have a happy hour in the afternoon when they offer free drinks in their bistro area.
The hotel is interesting, it has somehow an exhibition in the honor of the military.
I liked that the hotel is central but not downtown where you have a lot of homeless. The area is safer than downtown and very well located in heart of the city. Convenient to discover San Francisco as you get to any neighborhood in less than 20min.
Good value in comparison to most hotels in the area (union square/financial district/mission district). Boutique hotel with renovations of an old building, has the basic amenities. Staff were very friendly and responsive.
The staff was super nice and helpful. I needed to extend my check out time and they agreed without any hesitations. The hotel was clean and located in a nice, easily accessed area at Union Square.
Great location with short walk to Union Square, however on the edge of parts of San Francisco that tourists best avoid. Cafe next door does great breakfast. Staff were brilliant.
The hotel was on the edge of Union Square which is in the heart of San Francisco's major shopping and entertainment area. There was a small pool and an area to chiill out in.
