It's an interesting town with interesting people. The lake gets a green algae from July on and you can't go in the water and it smells really bad. Not a lot of restaurants or bars. Some unsafe areas, beware.

The size of the apartment was good.
The size of the apartment was good. Needed to be cleaner and the carpet in the bedroom needs to be changed. The rest of the flooring is updated and nice. The furniture needs to be updated, but the bed was comfortable. Needs TLC. I liked the kitchen.

Unfortunately, Clearlake in the Austin Resort area as a whole was rundown and depressing compared to my husband's childhood memories. It has seen better days. Though rated well in TripAdvisors, the Main Street Bar & Grill and Horatio's Grottos left much to be desired. The food was just okay and the facilities, themselves, were rundown and cafeteria style. When you are served salad dressing in styrofoam cups, you know you're not in a classy restaurant!

Clearlake Cottages and marina is a little oasis at the lake. I look forward to going back for a longer stay. Nice clean cottages. The manager checked us in, and was very nice and helpful. Except for the wind Clearlake is a great boating and fishing lake. My wife landed her first nice bass. The local food was excellent if you do a little research. We ate a local Tex mex restaurant and the food and service was great.DanUnited States
