A fabulous location, very friendly and helpful staff, and the food was excellent.
However, the whole place is extremely tired and needs an overhaul. Somewhere that sells itself as a high-end luxury hotel (and charges so) cannot have frayed carpet coming up at the door ways, and damaged paint. The dining room needs a refresh (and perhaps an interior designer) and the bar area is rather odd and looks like something you’d more likely find in a travel lodge.
This stay was a 40th present to my best friend and to be frank I was rather embarrassed at how down at heel the whole place felt. A huge disappointment. Though as I say, very friendly staff and rather surprisingly yummy food. And a comfortable bed. If this were not billed as being rather on the luxurious end of things, it wouldn’t have been a bad stay at all!
