Room was lovely and spacious and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Staff were very friendly/ Breakfast room was spacious and caught the morning sunshine. Breakfast was delicious and much better that some we have had in more expensive hotels.

I thought the breakfast was very good (vegetarian) and it was all made/delivered very promptly. I was pleased that I wasn't expected to be too early for breakfast!!! I appreciated the flexibility of not having to give a firm arrival time (as I wasn't sure when booking). I also appreciated the central heating being on (even thought it was May .... ) as it had rained heavily and, outside, it felt damp. The offer of being given local recommendations to eat was also welcomed, even though I didn't need it. Fresh milk in the room was great.
Situated in Stanley, 3.1 km from Beamish Museum, Hotel 52 Stanley features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham.
Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office. The food was the best restaurant food I have had for a very long time. I would highly recommend the area and the facilities I used.

Really, we were not staying in Lanchester itself, but it does have two good restaurants and a good range of local shops, and there is free parking throughout, and there is a bypass that keeps unwanted traffic out of the town centre.

Burnhopeside Hall was even better than we had imagined and well will definitely stay again. We would highly recommend this property. The hosts were very helpful and the breakfasts were delicious. The house and garden are beautiful and coffee on the lawn is very special.
Burnhopeside Hall is one of the best bed and breakfasts I have stayed in.
In charming Lanchester, close to Durham and Newcastle, The Old Post Office was a great find. Beautiful rooms with lots of little extras and attention to detail. Breakfast was outstanding, with lots of choice and GF options. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We chatted to Keith for some time - he’s a great character with lots of stories. We’ll be back.
Loved the room, bed was great toilet and shower were clean, the food was good and extremely cheap. I bought a New Yorker burger and chips. The staff were friendly and great hosts and the Inn it self is situated about 5 mins from a nature reserve which was an added bonus. Really enjoyed my short stay here.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was freshly prepared, wholesome and delicious. The room had everything we needed. There was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel - hard to describe but everyone in the place seemed at home.
What an amazing property. The hotel is a wonderful example of restored architecture. Large rooms, comfortable bed to die for and an excellent breakfast. The lady that runs it, is very welcoming. couldn’t ask for more.
Perfect location for local trips to Hartlepool, Beamish and the moors.
Lanchester itself also v good for local shops, eatery options etc.
Attentive staff making good efforts after a very recent change of hands.
Lovely country house hotel with a welcoming host who could provide excellent advice on where to eat. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked. Best thing was walking in the grounds and down by the river.
Wonderful small inn, at a good location outside of Durham. Pub was great and we really enjoyed time spent there with the owners and a few locals. Rooms are newly renovated and comfortable.
