We had a lovely break. Heather, Alison (and her mum) were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We’ve not been anywhere we felt so comfortable taking our dog. He will be back for his breakfast sausage! In a nice quiet area, slept like logs on the comfortable bed and breakfast was lovely. Short walk to the harbour and if you’re feeling a bit lazy for the walk back, the taxis will take dogs! Highly recommended!

Loved that they left breakfast out for an early start, rooms had their own in and out doorway and it was so easy in the morning, lovely COMFY bed and so so clean, they had everything you could need including biscuits! And reading lights! Got a “partial sea view” from the bathroom (appreciate the small things), so close to everything!!! Stones throw to restaurants, pier, diving etc

Being tucked away on the North Devon coast, Ilfracombe is not nearly as crowded as its southern & Cornish neighbours, but is nonetheless a delightful location which we visit very often & always enjoy being there.

Ilfracombe is a lovely place to visit, however please be aware how hilly it is. Walking down to harbour is easy but the return journey can be a bit of a slog. Had gluten free fish and chips from Lynbay fish and chip shop. Gluten free cream tea from St James tea garden. Many part of this town including its HIGH STREET are looking terribly run down and rough. So too some pubs ... I'm sure it will perk up in higher season but money needs to be spent on its appearance . The streets felt as safe as most places in Britain and some Bistros and cafes were delightful. Roads are narrow and some extremely vertiginous . Parking can be an issue in high season I guess.

Ilfracombe is worth a visit and is probably better in the summer than when we visited. We preferred Woolacombe and Puttsborough beach is great for surfing. We walked around Baggy Point and saw some amazing views. Well worth a visit.

There were some really lovely parts of Ilfracombe and some not so nice , like most towns . Most of the architecture is stunning with old and new together but some new don't fit in. The scenery on the coast is amazing with lots of craggy coves and you can walk along the South West Coast Path . There is a small harbour where a stunning Damien Hirst statue is of Verity ,Statue of Justice if I remember correctly Parts of Ilfracombe are quite steep but there are slopes and some roads on the flat. We ate Sunday lunch at the Thatched Inn , had Breakfast at the Lime Kiln Cafe down by a cove . We loved it.

Tesco just up the hill for provisions, and easy access to roads all around North Devon. Staff are very friendly. Accommodation is basic but comfortable with everything you could need. We didn’t use the on site facilities much but noted an indoor pool and clubhouse which looked fun for families. Makes a great base for exploring North Devon and also for some evenings in Ilfracombe which is fun.SimonUnited Kingdom

Absolutely delicious. Bathroom and room spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Thanks again for „acting as a taxi driver“ to Woolacombe, making my troubles less complicated. Once in Ilfracombe again, I would definitely stay at Grosvenor House.
