We liked the exceptionally friendly welcome and our spacious bedroom. We appreciated the non-slip surface in the shower. We enjoyed our dinner - imaginative, well cooked and nicely presented. The provisions for our DIY continental breakfast were generous and varied. We admired the efficient and friendly service at dinner.

There was very little to like!

There was very little to like! The photographs on the website are misleadingly flattering . Certainly the room we were in was basic at best. It was clean but uncomfortable. Staff were helpful enough and tried to show how the TV worked and put heating on. Carpets on stairs were dirty and torn. Doors were dirty. It seemed odd to stay in a licensed premises with no one living in the pub . I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Cosy cottage with everything you could need for a few nights away. Comfy beds in good sized rooms. Great shower and lots of hot water! Set in lovely grounds next to a small ambling river who has a rarely inhabitant...Mr Otter. He surprised the owner by making an appearance on the morning we left! Great stay in beautiful surroundings.

Quiet village great base for visiting surrounding countryside, amazing scenery in all directions, walkers paradise lots of wildlife to observe. Blanchand only about four miles away a conservation village with a lot of history and wonderful old school house where you can stop and have a bite to eat, food delicious. would highly recommend Edmondbuyers as a place to stay, lots of interesting locations nearby to explore.

The location means a variety of things to see within a very short distance. There are several easy to follow footpaths or more hilly trails for the more adventurous. The Derwent reservoir is within walking distance and offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and fishing. There are stunning views whichever way you decide to travel and the area is natural and unspoilt. Even the sheep seem more chilled than usual which can be interesting if you are driving. The two pubs provide a variety of choice but quality in both. the village is small but has its own history and traditions to explore.
