Accomodation is of average quality and seems a little lost in the 1980's - The decor and facilities are quite tired but kept very clean and comfortable - Areas such as under the beds and on top of ward robes were quite dusty.

This is the most beautiful place we stayed in in Japan. Everything was just perfect: the room, the people, the different spaces to hang out and chill, the sounds, the greenery, and of course - the amazing Onsen. We stayed for 3 nights and could stay three more.

We chose the superior room which is one of the private room options, which was very spacious with a small balcony a really good set-up in terms of bed etc. The lounge area, food, drinks and service were exceptional and it’s a five minute walk to the most iconic view of Hakone. We would definitely come back.

Absolutely incredible staff from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. In particular, Yuuta was so helpful, attentive, and downright elegant.
An EXCEPTIONAL breakfast and dinner were included with our room, prepared as Japanese interpretation of multi-course French cuisine. The view from the dining area was stunning. Absolutely wonderful.
I believe all rooms include a private outdoor onsen (hot spring bath) where you can soak for hours while enjoying nature.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere.
Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. The Hakone Free-Pass offers great value for money.

It’s the perfect break from the city buzz of Tokyo.
It’s the perfect break from the city buzz of Tokyo. There are arts and nature and the sights to explore. A hidden treasure that will impress those looking for a slower pace to unwind. I feel like kids and teenagers may find it boring.
Beautiful traditional hotel in the mountains. Our room was very spacious (twin with an onsen and it was so worth it). We have also checked out the communal onsen which had both an inside and outside pools and a very chill vibe. Amazing traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast - don't expect cereal or eggs, this is very different to a European breakfast. We loved walking around the hotel in our yucatas. Overall an amazing stay. I'd also recommend the Hakone sculpture park afterwards - it's a 20 minute walk away or a bus ride.
Hotel is about 13 minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto Station; a quite steep walk but still manageable and you get to enjoy the scenery along the way. My family and I really enjoyed the stay. The service was exceptional, the meals included are delicious. (I was worried about the portion might be too small, but it turned out to be very satisfying, even the kid meals are very thoughtful) the room is spacious, clean and has a private onsen! Also the futon bed is comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
The hotel sits surrounded by forest hills on one side and a beautiful landscaped park on lake Ashi on the other side withbview of the surrounsing mountains; it's a truly wonderful and magical place.
The hotel is classy albeit a bit dated and could need some paint and rennovation here and there.
The onsen area is wonderful, and open almost 24h/day.
Staff is very friendly and helpful with high service level.
There is also a frequent shuttle bus to Motohakone.
Reataurants on premise are high quality, albeit expensive.
We loved staying here. This is a traditional Japanese experience and well worth the money. The hotel is extremely well maintained. We loved trying the private onsen and the banquet dinner was exceptional. The staff were eager to help and very easy to converse with. There is a bus stop right outside. Easily accessed by public transport from Odawara. Lake Ashi and the Togendai cablecar is easily accessed by bus. There is a botanic wetlands a short walk away.
We had a great stay in the Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel! Our room wasn't even the most expensive and yet it was super fancy, very big, and with views of the mountains. Everything was so peaceful and cozy! We also got a very nice breakfast with incredible views. On our way back, the hotel provided a shuttle for free that took us to the station so that was super appreciated! We loved it!
1. The location is 1 bus stop away from the hakone yumoto station, ie 10mins walk distance.
2. Our room came with dinner and breakfast and both meals were not too bad. I enjoyed breakfast more tbh. There is a restaurant beside the Ryokan if you do not enjoy the meals or doesn't suit your taste.
3. There are public and private reserved onsen.
4. They also have a vending machine.
A comfortable hotel in Hakone, 5 min away from the cable car. I loved in room onsen, also the pubic one. I also loved how spacious the room is. It was super nice to have a kimono and an overcoat to wear during the stay. The dinner was very special , although a bit too long in case you travel with kids. Attention to service was exceptional.
I loved the location, staff, and onsens. It was a very short walk to Hakone Yumoto station, which is the big way in and out of Hakone. The staff was so polite and eager to help all the time. The women's onsen was absolutely sublime. It was always clean, and towels and yukata were provided. I would absolutely stay there again.
The hotel is divided to few complexes, it is big and designed nicely- we stayed at the same complex as the reception and breakfast. Onsen can be reached via connecting stairway and was very nice (indoor only). Walking distance to hakone open air museum. Staff are welcoming and helpful - we enjoyed our stay!
This is the third stay at Hakone, each hotel has different experiences. I love how this place has a personal house keeper. It was a wonderful surprise.
All dinner and breakfast are excellent. Hotels private onsen was great. Traditional room is a great experience accompanied with lovely meals.
This Ryokan is perfect: good value, convenient location (bus stop is just two steps to the hotel), staff is knowledgeable, friendly and courteous, 24 hrs onsen access. Our rooms are large, clean and have window view to the mountain. Food is excellent. This Ryokan is highly recommended.
Hakone village is a great stop for travellers interested in Mt Fuji region. Hotel is in a pleasant neighbourhood with wonderful surprises nearby. There are places to eat and explore within the proximity of the hotel. this was our first Onsen experience in Japan and it was great.
The hotel is located in beautiful nature, the view was phantastic! We could see Mt Fuji and the lake.
Our tradional Japanese style room and the onsen were amazing as well, the hotel staff was very friendly.
I will come back again in the future!
Thank you very much
Staying here is a total experience. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and almost as if you were the only guest.
The actual location of the hotel in Hakone is amazing, gorgeous views and onsen experience is amazing.
The location is great, only a few minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto station and the shopping district.
The hotel staff are very nice, both breakfast and dinner are superb.
The room and onsen facilities are clean and well maintained.
Onsen and buffet dinner. The dinner has a great variety of local and international dishes. The hotel faces Lake Aishi and the view was stunning from the lobby and dining room. The onsen was relaxing, the soak was hot and relaxing.
Great stay in a hotel focused on providing the Japanese Onsen and Kaizeki experience. The Onsen with lake and Mt Fuji view is really amazing, as well as with the whole experience of wearing the yukata throughout your stay.
- Onsen bath with incredible view of mountain
- beautiful setting on Lake Ashi near the cable cars to top of Hakone
- Japanese buffet morning and night is excellent
- Comfy quiet modern rooms
We had the room with a private onsen and nice view of the valley. Large, ryokan style room. Excellent buffet Japanese and western breakfast. Provided yucatas. Shoe free hotel and public onsen.
Nice atmosphere thanks to the historical charm of the hotel. Great to have an onsen on location. Spacious room.
And perfectly located to do the Hakone loop.
