A BEAUTIFUL friendly city with one of the best street markets (produce, fish, bread - all harvested and produced locally !) in Germany. The place is spotless, I lived here as a British service child. It seems to have much changed on the surface (well it would in 49 years!). The town is very quiet which is great if you like a peaceful night. It's in a beautiful part of the country with much to explore. If you like burgers look no further than Cafe Outback. I had the best burger and bratkartoffeln in years!

We cooked Thanksgiving dinner in their lovely modern kitchen which had everything we needed. The flat is in a charming residential area. Private parking space for our rental car. The host was helpful, kind, and immediately responded to our questions. Excellent!! Our daughter lives in Detmold and it was a 10 minute walk to her place and the park and opera house. Superb location - everything within 10 minutes walking distance. Private parking place was a cherry on the cake. The hosts Stefan and Kirsten were also vary hospitable. Very nice staff too. Room was beautiful, even had an outside terrace. We enjoyed our two nights at Elizabeth Hotel and Detmold. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Thank you.
