Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre and Spa is set in the heart of the Kromdraai Valley, close to The Cradle of Human Kind World Heritage Site.

Surrounded by lush gardens and natural forests, the elegantly furnished and stone-built thatched rooms and suites are all equipped with satellite TV, a telephone, and tea- and-coffee making facilities. The private bathrooms are fitted with a bath and shower.

Misty Hills Country Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The thatched-roof bungalows are spacious with lovely interior décor and furniture, and are laid out along many winding brick paths in a lush tropical setting with flowers, shrubs, and trees, some with botanical labels on them. Along the paths are many splendid African art carvings, statues, small flowing brooks, ponds, and beautiful scenic views. The grounds have been meticulously planned and laid out, as have the rooms and buildings on the many acres in this resort. Each room, dining area, meeting room, and the reception area are adorned with African art—sculptures, paintings, and historic artefacts/memorabilia, with windows that look out in to the tropical gardens and trees. The service is first class. The accompanying huge breakfast buffet has dozens of choices of fresh fruit, warm and cold meats, special dishes, cheeses, cereals, and pastries, with several people ready to cook any personal preference you may have, as well as table service in the large dining hall with its African motif surrounding you. Of course, the world-renowned Carnivore restaurant is on the Misty Hills grounds and is a real treat for those who enjoy a meal of game in a festive setting with meat delivered to your table on large skewers. There is also a nice dining room with a good lunch and dinner menu adjacent to the reception area. In every way, this hotel is great and a wonderful experience; we’re from Canada and have returned every time we’re in the Johannesburg area.

The luxurious Afrique Boutique Hotel Ruimsig is surrounded by landscaped gardens on the banks of the Crocodile River. It offers elegant rooms with balconies.

The large rooms are beautifully decorated with lavish furnishings and come fully equipped for the needs of the modern traveller.

For our 24th wedding anniversary I booked us a room with dinner, bed and breakfast. From the moment we walked through the front door I knew we were in a very special place. What an absolutely gorgeous home with friendly, helpful staff who looked after us so well. My husband and I are both tricky to cater for: he's a pescatarian (no meat), and I'm allergic to gluten and dairy. Not ideal guests! The food was delicious and in generous portions. Love the 24/7 tea and coffee station. The beds are incredible: extra length superking with pillow top with really good quality pillows. The swimming pool was lovely on a very hot stormy afternoon. All rooms have a balcony and we were up in the trees. They even have a generator that runs everything including the TV! We will definitely be back, for 2 nights next time.

Some units have a balcony and/or a patio with city views.

food definately not great ordered a platter rib and chicken wings for R400 85 percent of the plate was chips, also the ribs were cold and the chips were hot, which makes me believe my orde3r ws standing for awhile, we waited over 1 and a half hours for service. the food was not chef standards at the cost that they were charging. We only ate there as we had just done a long journey and did not want to venture out as we were tired. otherwise the staff and rooms were lovely, location lovely

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The executive room exceeded our expectations. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and the sunk in huge bath with outside shower a bonus. The menu selection at the Ginbox Pub & The Connexion Restaurant was small but to our satisfaction. The huge variety of buffet breakfast was fit for a king. The property with its scenic walkways gave a tranquil atmosphere. I would highly recommend Misty Hills for a quick get away or romantic weekend.

The location is absolutely everything. That long gravel road drive sets you up for a relaxed getaway. We loved being there for 3 nights. Those people will serve you! The food is soon good and the portions are quite generous. The Picnic was lovely, definitely worth every cent. The Game Drive was very informative... Given is so knowledgeable and passionate about nature and the animals.

Super lovely relaxing spot. The pool view is super awesome and can sometimes be doped by views of domesticated game like a sweet family of warthogs. Exhilarating activities for quad bike / game drive lovers, a refreshing walking trail to shake off the scrumptious foods served by a passionate team. We'll definitely be back!!!
